Snorkeling in 2 Cenotes Private Tour

If you love snorkeling, our Cenotes private tour should be on top of your bucket list for your holidays in the Riviera Maya. Are you ready for an unique experience?

Some of the most fascinating natural wonders of the Riviera Maya are its cenotes, beautiful underground caverns formed by rainwater eroding limestone over centuries. Since there are so few rivers and lakes throughout the Yucatán Peninsula, these sources of fresh water were especially important and sacred to the ancient Maya.

Enjoy a smooth and immersive experience with private transportation, flexible timing, and your own snorkeling guide.

Best Cenote Tour Options in the Riviera Maya

Our all-inclusive cenote private tour invites you to join us in the exploration of two different cenotes, which you can pick from the list below. No two cenotes are alike – some are closed caves, while others are open, and they all have different geologic features, often including breathtaking stalactites and stalagmites. No matter which two you choose, you’re sure to have a memorable experience and fun!

Cenotes to Choose for Your Adventure

Cenote Taak bi Ha: a small natural cave cenote nestled in the heart of the Mayan jungle, Swim and snorkel to marvel at stunning stalactites and stalagmites.

Cenote Dos Ojos: Venture into the fascinating Cenote Dos Ojos, renowned for its breathtaking cave system, offering a unique snorkeling experience amid impressive stalactites and a vibrant ecosystem . We won’t miss the Bat Cave (if water level allow the access)!

The mangroves are particularly impressive and worth viewing. Their ecological importance and natural beauty make them a highlight of the area.

Cenote Pet Cemetery (Sac Actun): Step into the eerie realm of the Pet Cemetery, an intriguing cenote adorned with mystical rock formations and a hauntingly beautiful atmosphere, inviting you to unravel its mysterious tales while enjoying a memorable swim in its tranquil waters (there is an extra cost per person if you select this cenote).

Great cenote tour with a great guide in Arturo! Good for people who want to only see and focus on cenotes.. The lunch was very good as well!

  17. Joe

Best Cenote Tour! (We got engaged!)
Let me start by saying that my plan from the beginning was to propose to my girlfriend in a cenote, in the water.
I messaged Absolute Adventure. I did not book, I only asked them if they could accommodate my plan, and recommend a cenote. Claire emailed back and was friendly and told me of some suggestions. I decided to hire them, and it turned out to be the best decision!
Taak Bi Ha was beautiful. We swam for a while before I proposed in the water. I left my phone with Omar who was on the shore, and he made a video of the experience for us (she said yes). Afterwards, we climbed out and went to Nicte-Ha which is an open cenote and swam there for a while, before going lunch. The lunch was delicious and authentic. After lunch, we relaxed for a few minutes, during which Arturo snuck away and came back with a bottle of tequila and poured my fiancée and I a shot to celebrate our engagement!
During the entire tour, Arturo was so kind. He loves his job, and he knows so much about the local plant and wildlife. He explained many things about the history of the cenotes and how they’re formed. He constantly points out various birds and lizards and tells you what they are. He explains plants and trees as well. For us, we are nature-lovers so we really appreciated his sharing of knowledge. We saw bats, birds, iguanas, basilisk lizards, and lots of fish.
Everything was perfect and we could not ask for more. The tour was great and I would HAPPILY sign up with Absolute Adventure again.

  18. Elizabeth

Juan, our tour guide was so knowledgeable, funny, charming and quick witted. He told us a lot of the local history. He kept 13 of us women engaged, entertained, in line and laughing most of the day. The tour ended with us like we had gained a friend for life. Absolutely 5 star worthy! Book them, you will not be disappointed.

  19. Holly

my boyfriend and I did the 2 cenotes tour and we can’t reccomend it enough!
our guide Arturo was SO wonderful and knew so much about the cenotes, all the information he was able to give us made the tour even more amazing!
we chose the nicte-ha and dos ojos cenotes and they were both unbelievable and so different from each other.
the restaurant we went to at the end of the day was hands down the best Mexican food I have ever had (I am vegetarian and they were very accommodating of that).
our driver Carlos was also wonderful and we felt very safe with him behind the wheel.
we are so glad we found this company and would absolutely use them again in the future 🙂

  20. Bonnie

This was the perfect tour! Low stress with pick up and drop off, amazing cenotes, and our tour guide, Arturo, was the most patient and knowledgeable guide possible! 10/10 would recommend this half day tour for people who don’t just want to stay at their hotels and want to experience the culture and doing some sightseeing.

Book them, you will not be disappointed.

my boyfriend and I did the 2 cenotes tour and we can’t reccomend it enough!
our guide Arturo was SO wonderful and knew so much about the cenotes, all the information he was able to give us made the tour even more amazing!
we chose the nicte-ha and dos ojos cenotes and they were both unbelievable and so different from each other.
the restaurant we went to at the end of the day was hands down the best Mexican food I have ever had (I am vegetarian and they were very accommodating of that).
our driver Carlos was also wonderful and we felt very safe with him behind the wheel.
we are so glad we found this company and would absolutely use them again in the future 🙂

FAQ 2 Cenotes Private Tour

Is the 2 Cenotes tour private or shared?
This is a private tour, just for you and your group.

You’ll have a dedicated guide and vehicle all to yourselves—no crowds, no waiting, just a smooth and personalized experience.

Is the driver also the guide?
No. The driver and guide are two different professionals. All our tours include a dedicated driver and a separate certified guide.  While some companies offer a guide-driver, we believe this is not safe. Having a driver focused solely on the road and a guide fully dedicated to our guests ensures a safer and higher-quality experience.
How long does a private 2 Cenotes tour take?
Please check the full itinerary in the “Itinerary” tab for more details.

It typically lasts between 4 to 6 hours, depending on your hotel location and how much time you’d like to spend at each site.

Is transportation included from my hotel or Airbnb?

Yes, round-trip transportation is included from Cancun, Playa del Carmen, Tulum, and Akumal. We’ll pick you up right from your hotel, resort, or Airbnb for a stress-free start to your day.

Please note: we don’t offer pick up from Cancun Playa Mujeres hotels unless your group has 6 or more adults.

What vehicles do you use for your tours?
We offer a range of modern, air-conditioned vans to suit the size of your group and ensure a safe and comfortable journey. Visit our fleet page for more details.
Can I change the pick up time?

Yes, you’re welcome to choose your preferred pick-up time when booking.

That said, we recommend an early morning start to help you beat the crowds, skip the traffic, and enjoy cooler temperatures—it really makes a difference!

Is snorkeling experience required for this tour?

No previous snorkeling experience is required, but basic swimming skills are necessary.

We provide mandatory life vests, and our guide ensures a safe and comfortable experience for everyone.

Which cenote do we visit on this tour?
Choose Your Cenote: Open, Semi-Open, or Cave

You can view the list of cenotes available for this tour under the ‘Tour Description and General Info’ tab, where you'll also find links to full descriptions of each cenote.

Unless you've already made your choice, you can decide which cenote to visit together with your tour guide on the day of your tour.

Are cenotes cold? Are they easy to access?

No, cenotes aren’t too cold—they stay at a refreshing 75–79°F (24–26°C) year-round, which is perfect for a swim.

Most cenotes have easy access with platforms and just a few steps to get in and out comfortably.

Do we have to wear wetsuits?

No, wetsuits are not mandatory. Only life vests are required for safety.

We do provide wetsuits if you would like extra comfort, especially if you find the water chilly. Wearing a wetsuit can also help you stay in the water longer without getting cold.

Are there showers or changing rooms at the cenotes?

Yes. Facilities include clean showers, restrooms, and changing areas.

What should I bring for the tour? Where can I leave my belongings?
Check the "What to bring" tab on the tour page for the full packing list.

Be sure to bring the essentials: swimwear, a towel, and flip-flops/sandals.

You can safely leave your belongings in the van—our driver stays with it the entire time while you're out enjoying the activities.

Are vegetarian or special dietary meals available?

Yes, we’re happy to accommodate vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and other dietary needs or allergies.

After booking, you can let us know your needs by filling out the check-in form—just follow the link in your booking confirmation email.

What is the cancellation policy?
Go ahead and plan with confidence—your booking is fully flexible!

You can cancel free of charge or reschedule (subject to availability) up to 24 hours before your tour.

We’re a small team and often fully booked 1–2 weeks in advance, so we recommend booking early to secure your spot.
