Snorkeling in 2 Cenotes Private Tour

If you love snorkeling, our Cenotes private tour should be on top of your bucket list for your holidays in the Riviera Maya. Are you ready for an unique experience?

Some of the most fascinating natural wonders of the Riviera Maya are its cenotes, beautiful underground caverns formed by rainwater eroding limestone over centuries. Since there are so few rivers and lakes throughout the Yucatán Peninsula, these sources of fresh water were especially important and sacred to the ancient Maya.

Enjoy a smooth and immersive experience with private transportation, flexible timing, and your own snorkeling guide.

Best Cenote Tour Options in the Riviera Maya

Our all-inclusive cenote private tour invites you to join us in the exploration of two different cenotes, which you can pick from the list below. No two cenotes are alike – some are closed caves, while others are open, and they all have different geologic features, often including breathtaking stalactites and stalagmites. No matter which two you choose, you’re sure to have a memorable experience and fun!

Cenotes to Choose for Your Adventure

Cenote Nicte Ha: Swim into the clear waters and discover a hidden jungle paradise, where you can snorkel and marvel at beautiful lily flowers and playful schools of small fish. With a small cave that overlooks the entrance to the underground river.

Cenote Jaguar: Embark on an exhilarating adventure! Cliff jumping and zip line await you. A captivating open-air cenote surrounded by lush vegetation, where you can also easily access and swim.

Casa Cenote: a hidden gem mixing fresh water and the Caribbean Sea, where you can swim and snorkel through its mangrove channels and spot lots of schools of fish and birds.

Cenote Taak bi Ha: a small natural cave cenote nestled in the heart of the Mayan jungle, Swim and snorkel to marvel at stunning stalactites and stalagmites.

Cenote Dos Ojos: Venture into the fascinating Cenote Dos Ojos, renowned for its breathtaking cave system, offering a unique snorkeling experience amid impressive stalactites and a vibrant ecosystem . We won’t miss the Bat Cave (if water level allow the access)!

Cenote Eden Garden: Known for its natural beauty, this open-air cenote offers clear turquoise waters surrounded by lush greenery, creating a serene and picturesque environment for visitors to enjoy swimming and snorkeling. (this cenote is closed on Saturdays)

Yal Ku Lagoon: The lagoon’s interface with the ocean results in an intermingling of fresh and saltwater. There is abundant marine life visible, including many varieties of small colorful fish. The mangroves are particularly impressive and worth viewing. Their ecological importance and natural beauty make them a highlight of the area.

Cenote Pet Cemetery (Sac Actun): Step into the eerie realm of the Pet Cemetery, an intriguing cenote adorned with mystical rock formations and a hauntingly beautiful atmosphere, inviting you to unravel its mysterious tales while enjoying a memorable swim in its tranquil waters (there is an extra cost per person if you select this cenote).

Why you’ll love it:

  • All Gear Provided – Enjoy a hassle-free experience with high-quality snorkeling equipment, life vests, wetsuits included—no extra costs

Expectations Exceeded! My wife and I booked a cenote excursion on our trip to Cancun. When I was looking at the tour options for the cenotes, I’ll admit, I thought it was a bit pricey. However, Juan and Carlos were at our resort at the scheduled time and provided a very personable experience. We were fortunate to be the only ones in the the Cenotes upon arrival and they were stunning! I can’t believe this tour isn’t significantly higher ranked on tripadvisoor as it was our favorite part of Mexico– and our resort was fantastic! Lunch was amazing and should definitely be added to all cenote tours. Skipping it would be a mistake. Thank you for a wonderful experience. It will be remembered for quite a while!

  2. Andrea

This was an amazing experience. Juan and Carlos made this the highlight of our trip! Highly Recommend!

  3. Arun

    Great otherworldly experience.
Alex was a terrific guide, gave us the VIP tour treatment for both the cenotes. The food and the ambiance at the lunch place they took us was amazing. Definitely recommend for anyone visiting Quintana Roo.

  4. Po-Hao

We went to Cenote Pet Cemetery and Cenote Nicte-Ha. Both are amazing. Our guide Juan was great, making the adventure extremely fun and safe. Make sure to bring a waterproof camera or case for phone.

  5. Kristen

My friends and I completed the 2 cenotes and lunch included adventure. During that time our tour guide JJ was exceptional! He was very knowledgeable and helpful with our group in swimming throughout the cenotes. The cenotes were beautiful and the food and drinks at the local spot was amazing and delicious!

  6. Carmen

Great tour of cenotes! Alex was an engaging and knowledgeable guide and the tour provided everything we needed to have a fun and memorable day!

  7. Will

Our family of 4 did a private cenote tour with Joshua and Carlos. Hotel pickup was prompt and convenient. They were very attentive to our boys, and got us to the cenotes early enough to beat the crowds.
Joshua’s knowledge of the area and its history made it a remarkable experience. 👍🏼

  8. Brad

    What a great time!
Better than amazing! My wife and I spent the morning with our guide, Joshua, and driver, Rodrigo. They both worked very hard to make sure we had a great time. Joshua guided us on which two cenotes to choose and then began giving us a history lesson that lasted the entire trip.
He was very patient with us as we got comfortable with the beautiful, yet very cold water. He slowly snorkeled with us and made sure that we saw the best parts. He also made sure we were appropriately reverent to the ecology and history of what we were touring.
We could not recommend this tour, these guides, and this company more. We hope to be back soon and try a different excursion.

  9. Justin

It was an absolute highlight of our time with Absolute Adventure. The cenotes were breathtakingly beautiful, and Arturo’s guidance ensured that we had a safe and enjoyable snorkeling experience. We had the privilege of visiting both an indoor and outdoor cenote, each with its own unique charm. The crystal-clear waters, vibrant marine life, and the feeling of tranquility were truly awe-inspiring.
One of the things that truly stood out about Absolute Adventure was the private and curated experience they provided. Our group felt like we were the only ones experiencing these wonders of nature and history. Arturo’s attention to detail and personalized approach made us feel special and allowed us to fully immerse ourselves in the magic of the locations we visited.
If you’re looking for a truly remarkable adventure in Mexico, I wholeheartedly recommend Absolute Adventure and, particularly, Arturo as your tour guide. Their commitment to providing unique, tailored experiences, combined with Arturo’s expertise and passion, will undoubtedly leave you with memories to cherish for a lifetime.

Had an amazing time snorkeling 2 cenotes with our guide Arturo. He’s very welcoming and made the adventure safe and laid back. He answered all our questions and kept us informed the entire tour. We were picked up from our AirBNB and the van was air conditioned with a cooler full of water and soda for the trip. We also had a yummy lunch at the end which is covered by the fee of the adventure but also has a full bar so you can have drinks and cervezas. Highly recommend!

  16. Kenya

Had an amazing time with absolute adventure tours. My partner and I had the pleasure of having alex as our guide and Omar as our driver. We selected to do 2 cenotes, 1 cave and 1 open . They were so beautiful and alex did a great job of making sure we were safe when entering and existing cenotes. We were never rushed and had plenty of time to see everything we wanted to see. We then went to a local restaurant with great food (all included in the cost of the trip). While we were exploring Omar stayed with any of our belongings in the van. He also gave us sodas and waters. This was a great experience and next time we are in Mexico we will be booking with absolute adventures.

  17. Amanda

We had an amazing cenote tour with Alex (guide) and Carlos (driver). We got to choose which cenotes to pick and we were pretty much the only people there. It was super relaxing and lovely. The cenotes were amazing. The lunch at the end was also delicious. Highly recommended if you want to avoid big crowds

  18. Chava

Arturo was an incredible tour guide. Everything I always appreciate in people: intelligence, kindness and happiness is a clear mark of Arturo. He is punctual and patient, excited and eager to share his local knowledge. I would love to go back to the tour of Dos Ojos and Jaguar. Both tours are interesting, exciting and very well paced. Lovely day with amazing Arturo and Gregory.!

  20. Christine B

JJ was knowledgeable and personable. He timed our terms perfectly so that we had the cenotes to ourselves and virtually had the Tulum ruins to ourselves. Can’t recommend him enough.

We then went to a local restaurant with great food (all included in the cost of the trip). While we were exploring Omar stayed with any of our belongings in the van. He also gave us sodas and waters. This was a great experience and next time we are in Mexico we will be booking with absolute adventures.

JJ was knowledgeable and personable. He timed our terms perfectly so that we had the cenotes to ourselves and virtually had the Tulum ruins to ourselves. Can’t recommend him enough.

FAQ 2 Cenotes Private Tour

Is the 2 Cenotes tour private or shared?
This is a private tour, just for you and your group.

You’ll have a dedicated guide and vehicle all to yourselves—no crowds, no waiting, just a smooth and personalized experience.

Is the driver also the guide?
No. The driver and guide are two different professionals. All our tours include a dedicated driver and a separate certified guide.  While some companies offer a guide-driver, we believe this is not safe. Having a driver focused solely on the road and a guide fully dedicated to our guests ensures a safer and higher-quality experience.
How long does a private 2 Cenotes tour take?
Please check the full itinerary in the “Itinerary” tab for more details.

It typically lasts between 4 to 6 hours, depending on your hotel location and how much time you’d like to spend at each site.

Is transportation included from my hotel or Airbnb?

Yes, round-trip transportation is included from Cancun, Playa del Carmen, Tulum, and Akumal. We’ll pick you up right from your hotel, resort, or Airbnb for a stress-free start to your day.

Please note: we don’t offer pick up from Cancun Playa Mujeres hotels unless your group has 6 or more adults.

What vehicles do you use for your tours?
We offer a range of modern, air-conditioned vans to suit the size of your group and ensure a safe and comfortable journey. Visit our fleet page for more details.
Can I change the pick up time?

Yes, you’re welcome to choose your preferred pick-up time when booking.

That said, we recommend an early morning start to help you beat the crowds, skip the traffic, and enjoy cooler temperatures—it really makes a difference!

Is snorkeling experience required for this tour?

No previous snorkeling experience is required, but basic swimming skills are necessary.

We provide mandatory life vests, and our guide ensures a safe and comfortable experience for everyone.

Which cenote do we visit on this tour?
Choose Your Cenote: Open, Semi-Open, or Cave

You can view the list of cenotes available for this tour under the ‘Tour Description and General Info’ tab, where you'll also find links to full descriptions of each cenote.

Unless you've already made your choice, you can decide which cenote to visit together with your tour guide on the day of your tour.

Are cenotes cold? Are they easy to access?

No, cenotes aren’t too cold—they stay at a refreshing 75–79°F (24–26°C) year-round, which is perfect for a swim.

Most cenotes have easy access with platforms and just a few steps to get in and out comfortably.

Do we have to wear wetsuits?

No, wetsuits are not mandatory. Only life vests are required for safety.

We do provide wetsuits if you would like extra comfort, especially if you find the water chilly. Wearing a wetsuit can also help you stay in the water longer without getting cold.

Are there showers or changing rooms at the cenotes?

Yes. Facilities include clean showers, restrooms, and changing areas.

What should I bring for the tour? Where can I leave my belongings?
Check the "What to bring" tab on the tour page for the full packing list.

Be sure to bring the essentials: swimwear, a towel, and flip-flops/sandals.

You can safely leave your belongings in the van—our driver stays with it the entire time while you're out enjoying the activities.

Are vegetarian or special dietary meals available?

Yes, we’re happy to accommodate vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and other dietary needs or allergies.

After booking, you can let us know your needs by filling out the check-in form—just follow the link in your booking confirmation email.

What is the cancellation policy?
Go ahead and plan with confidence—your booking is fully flexible!

You can cancel free of charge or reschedule (subject to availability) up to 24 hours before your tour.

We’re a small team and often fully booked 1–2 weeks in advance, so we recommend booking early to secure your spot.

Bonus: if you book at least 2 months in advance (60 days), you’ll qualify for our early bird discount*!
