Snorkeling in 2 Cenotes Private Tour

If you love snorkeling, our Cenotes private tour should be on top of your bucket list for your holidays in the Riviera Maya. Are you ready for an unique experience?

Some of the most fascinating natural wonders of the Riviera Maya are its cenotes, beautiful underground caverns formed by rainwater eroding limestone over centuries. Since there are so few rivers and lakes throughout the Yucatán Peninsula, these sources of fresh water were especially important and sacred to the ancient Maya.

Enjoy a smooth and immersive experience with private transportation, flexible timing, and your own snorkeling guide.

Best Cenote Tour Options in the Riviera Maya

Our all-inclusive cenote private tour invites you to join us in the exploration of two different cenotes, which you can pick from the list below. No two cenotes are alike – some are closed caves, while others are open, and they all have different geologic features, often including breathtaking stalactites and stalagmites. No matter which two you choose, you’re sure to have a memorable experience and fun!

Cenotes to Choose for Your Adventure

Cenote Nicte Ha: Swim into the clear waters and discover a hidden jungle paradise, where you can snorkel and marvel at beautiful lily flowers and playful schools of small fish. With a small cave that overlooks the entrance to the underground river.

Cenote Jaguar: Embark on an exhilarating adventure! Cliff jumping and zip line await you. A captivating open-air cenote surrounded by lush vegetation, where you can also easily access and swim.

Casa Cenote: a hidden gem mixing fresh water and the Caribbean Sea, where you can swim and snorkel through its mangrove channels and spot lots of schools of fish and birds.

Cenote Taak bi Ha: a small natural cave cenote nestled in the heart of the Mayan jungle, Swim and snorkel to marvel at stunning stalactites and stalagmites.

Cenote Dos Ojos: Venture into the fascinating Cenote Dos Ojos, renowned for its breathtaking cave system, offering a unique snorkeling experience amid impressive stalactites and a vibrant ecosystem . We won’t miss the Bat Cave (if water level allow the access)!

Cenote Eden Garden: Known for its natural beauty, this open-air cenote offers clear turquoise waters surrounded by lush greenery, creating a serene and picturesque environment for visitors to enjoy swimming and snorkeling. (this cenote is closed on Saturdays)

Yal Ku Lagoon: The lagoon’s interface with the ocean results in an intermingling of fresh and saltwater. There is abundant marine life visible, including many varieties of small colorful fish. The mangroves are particularly impressive and worth viewing. Their ecological importance and natural beauty make them a highlight of the area.

Cenote Pet Cemetery (Sac Actun): Step into the eerie realm of the Pet Cemetery, an intriguing cenote adorned with mystical rock formations and a hauntingly beautiful atmosphere, inviting you to unravel its mysterious tales while enjoying a memorable swim in its tranquil waters (there is an extra cost per person if you select this cenote).

Why you’ll love it:

  • All Gear Provided – Enjoy a hassle-free experience with high-quality snorkeling equipment, life vests, wetsuits included—no extra costs

Book this company!!!! You will not be disappointed. I have traveled a lot over my life and experienced many tour companies but Absolute is by far the best one I have ever used. We had 13 women on our “private ” tour and had the best guide anyone would ever want to have. His name is Juan. He had to put up with all us crazy women. We did the 2 cenote tour and the entire day was filled with awe and laughter. Juan was so great! He shared the history of cenotes and many other interesting facts about the area we were in. We learned about the letter “X” and that was very interesting. You will have to book them to find out about this. All us ladies are in agreement that we had a extremely fun day that will be remembered for years to come. You will not be disappointed. We came from Cozumel and was picked up at the Playa del Carmen pier. Everything went like clockwork. The communication between us and Absolute Tours prior to the tour was spot on. We booked almost a year before we got there. The pricing was worth every penny. Our lunch was fantastic. Some of the best food we have had on our trip. We love Mexican food! We all recommend this company for any tours they offer. It will be a special day for all who book them. Gracias Absolute. Next time we are in the area we will book them again.

  2. Mikhel

  3. Samantha

Absolutely loved this tour of the cenotes! We can ere a group of 10 women for a bachelorette trip and our guide was amazing. He went above and beyond providing history of each location, details on the cenotes and most importantly was very patient with a few of the ladies who were a little anxious and coached us through. Such a fun time and delicious food at the end! Definitely a must if you’re in Tulum.

  4. Sarah

Our tour with Arturo was amazing! He was very knowledgeable about the area and cenotes. He was also extremely friendly, kind and brought a good amount of humor to the trip. We felt very comfortable and confident in his guidance and one the trip. It was a great experience as we got there early and had the cenotes all to ourselves! It really allowed us to learn and experience them in a unique way. The lunch after was also awesome. They had the best tortillas and it was the most authentic meal we had! I am still craving the chicken taco. I highly suggest this private tour! It was one of the best things we did!

Perfect private tour for small group!
My group of 12 went for a private tour with Absolute Adventure Mexico. First we visited the Tulum ruins. We went there early to beat the crowd. The guide was very knowledgable and shared a lot of fun facts about Mayan history. Then we went to the Jaguar Cenote. The guide advised us to go there because there wouldn’t be a lot of people, and indeed we had the Cenote almost all for ourself! We did some zipline and swam in the Cenote before going to lunch. Overall it was a perfect day, 10/10 would recommend!

  11. Frank

Awesome trip! Best option to see multiple cenotes and get the most historical info

  12. Luke

Booking a private tour with Absolute Adventure is like winning the lottery. We spent half of a day on a private cenote tour. Arturo was our guide and he made the experience so special for us. He was full of knowledge and taught us all about the history of the cenotes while we saw with our own eyes. Absolute Adventure even starts early in the morning so you can beat most of the crowds. Our driver, Omar was also very friendly and professional. Thank you so much to Arturo and Omar! We will definitely be booked another adventure with Absolute Adventure again in the future because of you two!

  13. Vincent

Both cenotes although different were equally beautiful and peaceful. The best part is you aren’t rush by your guides it’s on your time. Rodrigo and Arturo took amazing care of us. The jokes made it even better. Lastly, the food at Januitas was perfect end to the day.

Tour guide was amazing and let us go at our own pace, excellent English. The meal was very sufficient and tasty. The driver was professional. Absolutely worth the cost 100% – coming back to this place next time for sure. The cenotes are beyond description in words, and the water is perfect in temperature. Just book this trip and GO!!

  18. Renee

Well worth the extra cost for a private tour!

Arturo, our guide, was phenomenal! He was so patient, friendly and knowledgeable. He knew the best times to get to each cenotes, made us feel safe as we maneuvered our way through and took us to a delicious lunch at the end! Do not hesitate to take the dos ojos cenotes tour!

Well worth the extra cost for a private tour!
The trip was amazing! Having a private tour for our family of 5 was well worth it. We didn’t have to worry about other people and we had the first cenote to ourselves . The guide as kind and patient with the kids and it made the day lots of fun !

FAQ 2 Cenotes Private Tour

Is the 2 Cenotes tour private or shared?
This is a private tour, just for you and your group.

You’ll have a dedicated guide and vehicle all to yourselves—no crowds, no waiting, just a smooth and personalized experience.

Is the driver also the guide?
No. The driver and guide are two different professionals. All our tours include a dedicated driver and a separate certified guide.  While some companies offer a guide-driver, we believe this is not safe. Having a driver focused solely on the road and a guide fully dedicated to our guests ensures a safer and higher-quality experience.
How long does a private 2 Cenotes tour take?
Please check the full itinerary in the “Itinerary” tab for more details.

It typically lasts between 4 to 6 hours, depending on your hotel location and how much time you’d like to spend at each site.

Is transportation included from my hotel or Airbnb?

Yes, round-trip transportation is included from Cancun, Playa del Carmen, Tulum, and Akumal. We’ll pick you up right from your hotel, resort, or Airbnb for a stress-free start to your day.

Please note: we don’t offer pick up from Cancun Playa Mujeres hotels unless your group has 6 or more adults.

What vehicles do you use for your tours?
We offer a range of modern, air-conditioned vans to suit the size of your group and ensure a safe and comfortable journey. Visit our fleet page for more details.
Can I change the pick up time?

Yes, you’re welcome to choose your preferred pick-up time when booking.

That said, we recommend an early morning start to help you beat the crowds, skip the traffic, and enjoy cooler temperatures—it really makes a difference!

Is snorkeling experience required for this tour?

No previous snorkeling experience is required, but basic swimming skills are necessary.

We provide mandatory life vests, and our guide ensures a safe and comfortable experience for everyone.

Which cenote do we visit on this tour?
Choose Your Cenote: Open, Semi-Open, or Cave

You can view the list of cenotes available for this tour under the ‘Tour Description and General Info’ tab, where you'll also find links to full descriptions of each cenote.

Unless you've already made your choice, you can decide which cenote to visit together with your tour guide on the day of your tour.

Are cenotes cold? Are they easy to access?

No, cenotes aren’t too cold—they stay at a refreshing 75–79°F (24–26°C) year-round, which is perfect for a swim.

Most cenotes have easy access with platforms and just a few steps to get in and out comfortably.

Do we have to wear wetsuits?

No, wetsuits are not mandatory. Only life vests are required for safety.

We do provide wetsuits if you would like extra comfort, especially if you find the water chilly. Wearing a wetsuit can also help you stay in the water longer without getting cold.

Are there showers or changing rooms at the cenotes?

Yes. Facilities include clean showers, restrooms, and changing areas.

What should I bring for the tour? Where can I leave my belongings?
Check the "What to bring" tab on the tour page for the full packing list.

Be sure to bring the essentials: swimwear, a towel, and flip-flops/sandals.

You can safely leave your belongings in the van—our driver stays with it the entire time while you're out enjoying the activities.

Are vegetarian or special dietary meals available?

Yes, we’re happy to accommodate vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and other dietary needs or allergies.

After booking, you can let us know your needs by filling out the check-in form—just follow the link in your booking confirmation email.

What is the cancellation policy?
Go ahead and plan with confidence—your booking is fully flexible!

You can cancel free of charge or reschedule (subject to availability) up to 24 hours before your tour.

We’re a small team and often fully booked 1–2 weeks in advance, so we recommend booking early to secure your spot.

Bonus: if you book at least 2 months in advance (60 days), you’ll qualify for our early bird discount*!
