Reef Snorkeling in Tulum and Swim in Cenote

 

  1. This private Reef Snorkeling Tour in Tulum will not disappoint you! This tour combines two different snorkeling experiences, one in the ocean and another one in the jungle.

  2. Arriving in Tulum paradise beach, you’ll hop on a boat for a one-hour tour complete with snorkeling on the 2nd biggest reef in the world. You will see many colorful corals and fishes on the reef. There’s a chance you may see sea turtles, but we can’t guarantee this as sometimes they are shy to the crowd.
    Also, from the boat, you’ll be able to get a great view of the ruins and two additional hidden temples. (This tour doesn’t include the visit of the Tulum mayan ruins).

  3. After swimming in the ocean, we will take the direction to the jungle, where we will swim and snorkel in a cenote of your choice. Will you prefer an open cenote like a natural pool in the jungle or a more adventure swim in the underground river? (See the list of the cenotes we include in the general information tab).

  4. Then, we’ll stop for an authentic lunch in the jungle, where you can choose a la carte your preferred Mexican meal. Once you’re ready, we will drive you back to your hotel early afternoon.

Which cenote will you visit? 
The day of your tour, you can choose one cenote between Nicte Ha, Taak bi Ha, or Jaguar. If you prefer to go to Dos Ojos or Pet Cemetery, we will add 10 USD per person on your balance. Your guide will be happy to help you to select the best cenote for you and your party according to your expectations and snorkeling skills.
What’s on the menu?
Selection of quesadillas, tacos, empanadas, salbutes, fajitas, grilled chicken, grilled fish, tortas (sandwiches), soup of day, … with vegetarian, fish, shrimp, chicken & meat options. With corn or flour tortillas. We can accommodate special diets and allergies, just let us know!

The recommended early pick-up time helps you avoid traffic, crowds, and heat at the sites, but you can opt for a later pick-up when booking.

Awesome time snorkeling and swimming in a cenote!
We did a wonderful tour with Absolute Adventure on our trip to Tulum. We were picked up by our driver, Omar, and guide, Juan, from our hotel. The first stop was snorkeling off the coast near the Tulum ruins! Such a great time! Got to see several neat fish, including a couple stingrays. We were provided snacks and drinks and then went to swim in a cenote in a cave! Very neat experience! We finished the day with a delicious lunch at a restaurant close to the cenote. We did three tours with AA on this visit, and I think this was my favorite!

Is the Tulum Reef Snorkeling Cenote tour private or shared?

This is a private tour, just for you and your group.

You’ll have a dedicated guide and vehicle all to yourselves—no crowds, no waiting, just a smooth and personalized experience.

Is the driver also the guide?

No. The driver and guide are two different professionals.

All our tours include a dedicated driver and a separate certified guide. 

While some companies offer a guide-driver, we believe this is not safe. Having a driver focused solely on the road and a guide fully dedicated to our guests ensures a safer and higher-quality experience.

How long does a private Tulum Reef Snorkeling Cenote tour take?

It typically lasts between 4 to 6 hours, depending on your hotel location and how much time you’d like to spend at each site. 

Pickup & transport

Is transportation included from my hotel or Airbnb?

Yes, round-trip transportation is included from Cancun, Puerto Morelos, Playa del Carmen, Puerto Aventuras, Akumal and Tulum. We’ll pick you up right from your hotel, resort, or Airbnb for a stress-free start to your day.

Please note: we don’t offer pick up from Cancun Playa Mujeres hotels unless your group has 6 or more adults.

What vehicles do you use for your tours?

Can I change the pick up time?

Yes, you’re welcome to choose your preferred pick-up time when booking.

That said, we recommend an early morning start to help you beat the crowds, skip the traffic, and enjoy cooler temperatures—it really makes a difference!

Activities & facilities

Is snorkeling experience required for this tour?

No previous snorkeling experience is required, but basic swimming skills are necessary.

We provide mandatory life vests, and our guide ensures a safe and comfortable experience for everyone.

What type of boat is used for the Tulum reef snorkeling?

We go out on a local snorkeling boat, guided by a friendly and experienced crew that’s officially certified by the marine park.

The boat is equipped with a side ladder, making it easy to get back on board after snorkeling.

Will we see turtles during the reef snorkeling tour?

Turtle sightings are possible but not guaranteed.

During the snorkeling experience, you’ll mostly see beautiful coral formations, schools of tropical fish, and with some luck, a sea turtle or stingray.

If seeing turtles is your main goal, the best place is Akumal, where sightings are nearly guaranteed. Akumal is one of the top spots in the region for swimming with sea turtles in their natural habitat. You can check out the same tour with Cenote and Turtles Swim.

Which cenote do we visit on this tour?

We offer a variety of cenote types, including open-air, semi-open, and cave cenotes.

Unless you've already made your choice, you can decide which cenote to visit together with your tour guide on the day of your tour.

Are there showers or changing rooms at the cenote?

Yes. Facilities include clean showers, restrooms, and changing areas.

Essentials include swimwear, a towel and comfortable shoes.

You can safely leave your belongings in the van—our driver stays with it the entire time while you're out enjoying the activities.

After booking, you can let us know your needs by filling out the check-in form—just follow the link in your booking confirmation email.

What is the cancellation policy?
