Snorkeling in 2 Cenotes Private Tour

If you love snorkeling, our Cenotes private tour should be on top of your bucket list for your holidays in the Riviera Maya. Are you ready for an unique experience?

Some of the most fascinating natural wonders of the Riviera Maya are its cenotes, beautiful underground caverns formed by rainwater eroding limestone over centuries. Since there are so few rivers and lakes throughout the Yucatán Peninsula, these sources of fresh water were especially important and sacred to the ancient Maya.

Enjoy a smooth and immersive experience with private transportation, flexible timing, and your own snorkeling guide.

Best Cenote Tour Options in the Riviera Maya

Our all-inclusive cenote private tour invites you to join us in the exploration of two different cenotes, which you can pick from the list below. No two cenotes are alike – some are closed caves, while others are open, and they all have different geologic features, often including breathtaking stalactites and stalagmites. No matter which two you choose, you’re sure to have a memorable experience and fun!

Cenotes to Choose for Your Adventure

Cenote Nicte Ha: Swim into the clear waters and discover a hidden jungle paradise, where you can snorkel and marvel at beautiful lily flowers and playful schools of small fish. With a small cave that overlooks the entrance to the underground river.

Cenote Jaguar: Embark on an exhilarating adventure! Cliff jumping and zip line await you. A captivating open-air cenote surrounded by lush vegetation, where you can also easily access and swim.

Casa Cenote: a hidden gem mixing fresh water and the Caribbean Sea, where you can swim and snorkel through its mangrove channels and spot lots of schools of fish and birds.

Cenote Taak bi Ha: a small natural cave cenote nestled in the heart of the Mayan jungle, Swim and snorkel to marvel at stunning stalactites and stalagmites.

Cenote Dos Ojos: Venture into the fascinating Cenote Dos Ojos, renowned for its breathtaking cave system, offering a unique snorkeling experience amid impressive stalactites and a vibrant ecosystem . We won’t miss the Bat Cave (if water level allow the access)!

Cenote Eden Garden: Known for its natural beauty, this open-air cenote offers clear turquoise waters surrounded by lush greenery, creating a serene and picturesque environment for visitors to enjoy swimming and snorkeling. (this cenote is closed on Saturdays)

Yal Ku Lagoon: The lagoon’s interface with the ocean results in an intermingling of fresh and saltwater. There is abundant marine life visible, including many varieties of small colorful fish. The mangroves are particularly impressive and worth viewing. Their ecological importance and natural beauty make them a highlight of the area.

Cenote Pet Cemetery (Sac Actun): Step into the eerie realm of the Pet Cemetery, an intriguing cenote adorned with mystical rock formations and a hauntingly beautiful atmosphere, inviting you to unravel its mysterious tales while enjoying a memorable swim in its tranquil waters (there is an extra cost per person if you select this cenote).

Why you’ll love it:

  • All Gear Provided – Enjoy a hassle-free experience with high-quality snorkeling equipment, life vests, wetsuits included—no extra costs
  • Expert Private Guide – A certified snorkeling guide stays with you throughout the tour, adapting the pace and support to suit your comfort and skill level.

I had an incredible time on the Cenotes adventure in Tulum, and Arturo was a huge part of that experience! He was super friendly, knowledgeable about the area, and always made us feel safe and comfortable. His passion for the cenotes and the history of Tulum really showed, making the adventure even more enriching. 7. Sheri

    Cenote, lunch, lagoon
This was our second tour with this tour company (first in 2023), and I can’t say enough good things! Always on time and catered to your specific needs. Alex is the best tour guide, he’s so fun and so knowledgeable. I would not do a tour with anyone else in this region. Highly recommend!

  8. Eric

Best cenote tour experience by far. Knowledgeable and passionate guides and would absolutely book with this company again in the future.

  9. Simone

    Amazing guide, amazing experience!
We went on the private tour with Alex and driver Enrique and it was so nice! Punctual pick-up at our airbnb as well as knowledgable information about Mayans and Mexican history even in the car before we arrived the experience started!

  10. Michael

Juan, aka JJ, was very good communicator throughout our adventure, he was very curious to get to know us and we felt safe him and the driver for the trip.
Akumal Lagoon was cool water, had lots of different fish and fun snorkeling. There is some current, so stay close to the edges when you can.
Cenote Dos Ojos was very cool, cold water in the shade, saw divers near the caverns and explored between the two cenotes in a keyhole cavern

  11. kassandarac

Great tour of cenotes with Joshua and Rodrigo!
Joshua was our tour guide and Rodrigo was our driver. They were both amazing! We loved every second of our tour and lunch was so great. We had so much fun! Thank you Joshua and Rodrigo!!

  12. Gabriela

We had the best experience ever. Our guide Joshua was very knowledgeable and fun. Rodrigo our driver made sure we were safe and comfortable as we navigated through bumpy roads. Best time ever!

  13. Kassie

My friends and I had so much fun with our tour guide Joshua and our driver Rodrigo. I would highly recommend them both for your cenote tour. Joshua was so positive, uplifting and knowledgeable. We loved the cenote tour! The water is very cold. I would recommend wearing water shoes because it’s just the easier to not have to worry about taking your shoes on or off and they help protect your feet in the water. I think mine kept my toes a bit warmer also! The bugs are so bad when you’re not in the water but Joshua did a great job keeping us focused on the fun!

  14. Kristen

We went on this excursion as a must-do activity for my sister’s bachelorette trip, and it was a blast! She kept raving about how this was her favorite thing to do on the trip. Everything went so smoothly, from pick up to drop off. Our guide, Alex, told us the history and legends of the Mayan civilization and their connection to the cenotes, and it was absolutely magical. Once we got to the first cenote, we knew this would be a thrilling day. We jumped in from the small cliff and the water was so clear and natural; we could see the lily pads so clearly from above! Such a fun experience, and now I want to explore all the cenotes!

  15. Byunggon Y.

This cenote tour was one of the best moments in my life. Cenote Sac Actun tour was more like an exploration. In this huge cave, there were only my wife, me, and our guide Alex(Alenjandro), while Taak Bi Ha has one of the most beautiful water I have seen.
This private tour is not cheap but 100% worth it. There’s no delay for picking up/dropping off multiple guests here and there. Alex and our driver Enrique showed up on time and were so nice and knowledgeable. Will definitely use this company again to explore other beautiful cenotes.

  16. Jen

Arturo and his team were a great guide! We had a bachelorette group go with him, and he had a lot of knowledge of the cenotes and guided our group safely through the caves and through snorkeling, jumping into cenotes, swimming through bat caves… Highly recommend!

  17. Olivia

    AMAZING cenote experience!!
Arturo was an amazing cenote guide! He took our group of 7 though dos ojos and nicte ha and we loved both cenotes so much. Dos ojos is more of a covered cave cenote and nicte ha was open with beautiful lilipads and more fish. Arturo was very knowledgeable and patient with our group wanting to spend more time at each one. We had a 10/10 experience and would recommend this service to anyone!!

  18. Erin

Joshua gave us a fabulous tour of two cenotes with a great lunch afterwards. He is so knowledgeable, friendly and accommodating! Highly recommend!

  19. Global156068

Do NOT miss this tour!! Highly recommended, awesome experience!!
Thank you, Juan and Enrique!! This was the best trip ever! <3
We experienced two beautiful cenotes, and the best part: we arrived early, and the first cenote just opened up for us, a very exclusive and awesome experience!! I totally recommend visiting Nicte-Ha (open cenote) and Taak Bi-Ha (closed cenote), that way you get to experience both types of cenotes and they are literally next to each other. Thanks for the recommendation, Juan!
We also learned a lot about the wildlife (we all love bats) and the history of the cenotes while having fun, snorkeling and of course jumping from the platforms 🙂 Thanks again for some great memories, awesome stories and for spending time with us, Juan and Enrique!!
THANKS, Absolute Adventure Mexico! It was an overall great experience!!

  20. Mark

Cenotes are an amazing experience. Went on a Sunday morning and had both Cenotes to ourselves. Joshua and Enrico picked us up right on time in Cancun. Clean van and had all the equipment ready for us. Recommended the wetsuit for Pet cemetery since it is a longer swim in chilly water.

FAQ 2 Cenotes Private Tour

Is the 2 Cenotes tour private or shared?
This is a private tour, just for you and your group.

You’ll have a dedicated guide and vehicle all to yourselves—no crowds, no waiting, just a smooth and personalized experience.

Is the driver also the guide?
No. The driver and guide are two different professionals. All our tours include a dedicated driver and a separate certified guide.  While some companies offer a guide-driver, we believe this is not safe. Having a driver focused solely on the road and a guide fully dedicated to our guests ensures a safer and higher-quality experience.
How long does a private 2 Cenotes tour take?
Please check the full itinerary in the “Itinerary” tab for more details.

It typically lasts between 4 to 6 hours, depending on your hotel location and how much time you’d like to spend at each site.

Is transportation included from my hotel or Airbnb?

Yes, round-trip transportation is included from Cancun, Playa del Carmen, Tulum, and Akumal. We’ll pick you up right from your hotel, resort, or Airbnb for a stress-free start to your day.

Please note: we don’t offer pick up from Cancun Playa Mujeres hotels unless your group has 6 or more adults.

What vehicles do you use for your tours?
We offer a range of modern, air-conditioned vans to suit the size of your group and ensure a safe and comfortable journey. Visit our fleet page for more details.
Can I change the pick up time?

Yes, you’re welcome to choose your preferred pick-up time when booking.

That said, we recommend an early morning start to help you beat the crowds, skip the traffic, and enjoy cooler temperatures—it really makes a difference!

Is snorkeling experience required for this tour?

No previous snorkeling experience is required, but basic swimming skills are necessary.

We provide mandatory life vests, and our guide ensures a safe and comfortable experience for everyone.

Which cenote do we visit on this tour?
Choose Your Cenote: Open, Semi-Open, or Cave

You can view the list of cenotes available for this tour under the ‘Tour Description and General Info’ tab, where you'll also find links to full descriptions of each cenote.

Unless you've already made your choice, you can decide which cenote to visit together with your tour guide on the day of your tour.

Are cenotes cold? Are they easy to access?

No, cenotes aren’t too cold—they stay at a refreshing 75–79°F (24–26°C) year-round, which is perfect for a swim.

Most cenotes have easy access with platforms and just a few steps to get in and out comfortably.

Do we have to wear wetsuits?

No, wetsuits are not mandatory. Only life vests are required for safety.

We do provide wetsuits if you would like extra comfort, especially if you find the water chilly. Wearing a wetsuit can also help you stay in the water longer without getting cold.

Are there showers or changing rooms at the cenotes?

Yes. Facilities include clean showers, restrooms, and changing areas.

What should I bring for the tour? Where can I leave my belongings?
Check the "What to bring" tab on the tour page for the full packing list.

Be sure to bring the essentials: swimwear, a towel, and flip-flops/sandals.

You can safely leave your belongings in the van—our driver stays with it the entire time while you're out enjoying the activities.

Are vegetarian or special dietary meals available?

Yes, we’re happy to accommodate vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and other dietary needs or allergies.

After booking, you can let us know your needs by filling out the check-in form—just follow the link in your booking confirmation email.

What is the cancellation policy?
Go ahead and plan with confidence—your booking is fully flexible!

You can cancel free of charge or reschedule (subject to availability) up to 24 hours before your tour.

We’re a small team and often fully booked 1–2 weeks in advance, so we recommend booking early to secure your spot.

Bonus: if you book at least 2 months in advance (60 days), you’ll qualify for our early bird discount*!
