Snorkeling in 2 Cenotes Private Tour

If you love snorkeling, our Cenotes private tour should be on top of your bucket list for your holidays in the Riviera Maya. Are you ready for an unique experience?

Some of the most fascinating natural wonders of the Riviera Maya are its cenotes, beautiful underground caverns formed by rainwater eroding limestone over centuries. Since there are so few rivers and lakes throughout the Yucatán Peninsula, these sources of fresh water were especially important and sacred to the ancient Maya.

Enjoy a smooth and immersive experience with private transportation, flexible timing, and your own snorkeling guide.

Best Cenote Tour Options in the Riviera Maya

Our all-inclusive cenote private tour invites you to join us in the exploration of two different cenotes, which you can pick from the list below. No two cenotes are alike – some are closed caves, while others are open, and they all have different geologic features, often including breathtaking stalactites and stalagmites. No matter which two you choose, you’re sure to have a memorable experience and fun!

Cenotes to Choose for Your Adventure

Cenote Nicte Ha: Swim into the clear waters and discover a hidden jungle paradise, where you can snorkel and marvel at beautiful lily flowers and playful schools of small fish. With a small cave that overlooks the entrance to the underground river.

Cenote Jaguar: Embark on an exhilarating adventure! Cliff jumping and zip line await you. A captivating open-air cenote surrounded by lush vegetation, where you can also easily access and swim.

Casa Cenote: a hidden gem mixing fresh water and the Caribbean Sea, where you can swim and snorkel through its mangrove channels and spot lots of schools of fish and birds.

Cenote Taak bi Ha: a small natural cave cenote nestled in the heart of the Mayan jungle, Swim and snorkel to marvel at stunning stalactites and stalagmites.

Cenote Dos Ojos: Venture into the fascinating Cenote Dos Ojos, renowned for its breathtaking cave system, offering a unique snorkeling experience amid impressive stalactites and a vibrant ecosystem . We won’t miss the Bat Cave (if water level allow the access)!

Cenote Eden Garden: Known for its natural beauty, this open-air cenote offers clear turquoise waters surrounded by lush greenery, creating a serene and picturesque environment for visitors to enjoy swimming and snorkeling. (this cenote is closed on Saturdays)

Yal Ku Lagoon: The lagoon’s interface with the ocean results in an intermingling of fresh and saltwater. There is abundant marine life visible, including many varieties of small colorful fish. The mangroves are particularly impressive and worth viewing. Their ecological importance and natural beauty make them a highlight of the area.

Cenote Pet Cemetery (Sac Actun): Step into the eerie realm of the Pet Cemetery, an intriguing cenote adorned with mystical rock formations and a hauntingly beautiful atmosphere, inviting you to unravel its mysterious tales while enjoying a memorable swim in its tranquil waters (there is an extra cost per person if you select this cenote).

Why you’ll love it:

  • All Gear Provided – Enjoy a hassle-free experience with high-quality snorkeling equipment, life vests, wetsuits included—no extra costs
  • Expert Private Guide – A certified snorkeling guide stays with you throughout the tour, adapting the pace and support to suit your comfort and skill level.

Private tour, dedicated driver and knowledgeable guide, what else to ask?
Our guide Juan was fantastic. I originally picked 2 xenotes, but when he came picked us up and saw we had 2 small children, he made a suggestion for us to change one of the xenote, which I’m very glad we did. There is also a dedicated driver for us. The trip wasn’t cheap by any means but definitely worth it. Highly recommended!

Arturo was availing amazing. Took the absolute best care of our group including a tentative 9 yr old. Zip lining and caves were spectacular. Would book again asap!! Please go. Ask for Arturo!

  4. Laurie

We booked two private tours with this company, one with just the two of us, and another with 10 people in our group. Both of our tour guides, Joshua and Alex, were absolutely phenomenal. So friendly and such a better experience than going with the big tour groups that pile you into a huge bus and drop you off at a crappy buffet lunch. This is much more economical as well. Highly recommend this company for Chichen Itza, Dos Ojos cenote, and Nicte Ha cenote!

  5. Lina

    Incredible cave snorkeling
We had an amazing time visiting two Cenotes. Juan was very personable, friendly and knowledgeable, and he made our experience as good as it could be. Would definitely recommend!

Cristina is the Best at Absolute Adventure Private Tours
Absolute Adventure provided a private cenote tour for two! It was perfect! Cristina and Yos were the perfect pair to take us to the cenotes. Cristina has an amazing amount of knowledge about the area. We were so impressed and appreciative of the history Cristina was able to explain to us. She was a great tour guide in the water, pausing and explaining the formation of the caves. All the snorkel equipment and life jackets were provided. Pickup was easy from our resort. I would absolutely recommend this company and request Cristina, I know we will next time we visit!

  7. Jeffrey

I recommend this tour if you want to visit cenotes. My friends and I visited two (Taak Bi Ha and Dos Ojos) and they were spectacular, especially since it was our first time swimming in cenotes. The food at Juanita’s restaurant was also delicious. We really enjoyed the experience and Juan was an excellent guide during our visit. Hopefully we can return someday in the future!

  8. Alannah

Absolute adventure was the best! We booked online before our trip and everything was smooth. Eddie was our guide and he was knowledgeable with great calm energy. Our private tour was amazing. They were right on time picking us up from our hotel. We also had Arturo with us and he was super knowledgeable and friendly. We went to 2 cenotes and had the best time. We will definitely book again when we come back. Highly recommend!

  9. Laurel

Arturo was awesome! Great trip. Would recommend to anyone of all ages.

    Incredible Private Cenote Experience
The private cenote tour was an incredible experience from start to finish, and it was made exceptional by our fantastic guide, Josh, and our smooth driver, Omar. As soon as we were picked up Josh immediately provided a detailed overview of the trip, giving us all the necessary information about the driving distance, the plan, and what to expect at each location. He also gave fantastic recommendations as to the features of the different cenotes to determine which we would like to visit.
The pacing of the tour was perfect for getting the best experience at two different cenotes. We had all the relevant equipment provided to us, including life vest and snorkeling equipment. Josh was an incredibly knowledgeable and enthusiastic guide, leading us through the first cenote and sharing information about the geology and history of these natural wonders. After the guided experience, we loved that we were given the freedom to explore and enjoy the second cenote at our own pace.

  12. Sara

    A must do!
An absolutely amazing tour! Alex was the best – informative, engaging, and so fun. We loved the two cenotes we picked – Dos Ojos and Jaguar – and had a great time at both. The lunch was delicious – the best food we had our whole trip! …

  13. Tiffany

My family and I (a group of 20+) had an amazing time with our guide Juan! Juan made sure everyone was taken care of. We visited 2 beautiful cenotes. Booking online was a breeze. Excellent, clear communication. All my questions were answered promptly by text. We got picked up from our resort on time and the vans had A/C and ice cold water and sodas. I would definitely book more tours with Absolute Adventure Mexico next time I visit! Special thanks to Claire, Ruby, Juan, and our driver for this unforgettable experience.

  14. Nicole

Highly recommend booking through Absolute Adventure! We were a group of 10 who booked a Private Cenote Tour out of Tulum. We were able to include a pickup/drop off directly from our AirBnB, which was very convenient. The cenotes were a beautiful and unique experience. We went to Cenote Jaguar and Taak Bi Ha. But the best part of our trip was our tour guides, Cristina and Rodri. Cristina was amazing- extremely knowledgeable, very fun and friendly, and both her and Rodri made sure we had a great time. Book here! It’s an experience you don’t want to miss.

  15. Caity

A group of ten of us chose the Absolute Adventure Private tour and enjoyed ourselves immensely with Cris and Rodri! They picked us up at 7:30 am at our hotel (Secrets Maroma) and we got to the Cenote Jaguar around 8:45 am. We each did the zip line twice, which was a riot, then jumped off the platforms for a refreshing dip. It was awesome! We went to our second cenote inside a cave which was very cool, gorgeous, and fascinating to learn about. Did some snorkeling there and then headed close by to Juanitas for a delicious lunch.
Cris and Rodri really outdid themselves not only as excellent tour guides but they also were kind enough to travel all the way back to our hotel again when we realized we left a cell phone in the shuttle! They were kind and generous with their time and expertise and we loved every moment!

  16. Lisa

I snorkeled at two of the most beautiful cenotes in Mexico; Dos Ojos and Nicte Ha. My guide, Alex, shared information regarding the Mayan views of the sun, the moon, and the underworld. I was really impressed by the sparkling blue waters, and a dark bat cave with stalactites, above and below the water! Absolute Adventures organized the pick up at our hotel, all snorkeling equipment, and lunch. Alex and our driver, Omar, made this an experience I will not forget!

  17. Juliette

Magical Adventure through the Tulum Cenotes.
I couldn’t have imagined a more magical day exploring the cenotes of Tulum. Our guide, Arturo, was so knowledgeable on the best grouping of cenotes to explore, as well as how to navigate through. I could feel the passion that he had for these natural wonders and saw it through my own eyes. Learning about the natural formations, wildlife, and history of Tulum’s cenotes is an experience I’ll never forget. If I could recommend one reservation to make for anyone visiting the Tulum area, it would be a tour with Absolute Adventure. Thank you again Arturo!

  18. Hannah

We did both the snorkeling and the cenotes tour and they were both amazing. Our tour guide, Arturo, was so thoughtful, knowledgeable, and a pleasure to spend the day with, and our driver, Enrique, was very professional and friendly. We also loved the crew who took us snorkeling in Puerto Morelos. The tours themselves were breathtaking and surpassed our expectations. When snorkeling, our guides made sure to take us to great spots and made sure to find us a sea turtle! We also received great recommendations from Arturo on which cenote (niche-ha) and cave (pet cemetery) to visit—they were both gorgeous and mesmerizing. Lunch on both tours were also fantastic! 10/10!

  19. Allie B.

Arturo and Cristina were great tour guides! They tailored our cenote experience based on the fact that we had a group with mixed swimming abilities so we visited cenotes that had no moving currents. As one of our group who can’t swim, I was very grateful for that! I was able to participate to my comfort level. Water was provided in the van and the lunch at Juanita restaurant was light, but satisfying and delicious after all the activity.

  20. Cathy

    Great experience
Absolutely amazing! Tour guide Alex and Rodrigo were incredible. We were a family group ages ranging from 11-74. Everyone enjoyed themselves. The interesting facts Alex shared on history of the area were fascinating. And he was patient with the multiple questions from our group. Everything was taken care of for us. Tickets, lunch, bathroom breaks-all were handled smoothly. I would highly recommend them. And would definitely use them again. Worth every penny!

Absolute Adventure provided a private cenote tour for two! It was perfect! Cristina and Yos (driver) were the perfect pair to take us to the cenotes.

    A must do!
An absolutely amazing tour! Alex was the best – informative, engaging, and so fun. We loved the two cenotes we picked – Dos Ojos and Jaguar – and had a great time at both. The lunch was delicious – the best food we had our whole trip! …

FAQ 2 Cenotes Private Tour

Is the 2 Cenotes tour private or shared?
This is a private tour, just for you and your group.

You’ll have a dedicated guide and vehicle all to yourselves—no crowds, no waiting, just a smooth and personalized experience.

Is the driver also the guide?
No. The driver and guide are two different professionals. All our tours include a dedicated driver and a separate certified guide.  While some companies offer a guide-driver, we believe this is not safe. Having a driver focused solely on the road and a guide fully dedicated to our guests ensures a safer and higher-quality experience.
How long does a private 2 Cenotes tour take?
Please check the full itinerary in the “Itinerary” tab for more details.

It typically lasts between 4 to 6 hours, depending on your hotel location and how much time you’d like to spend at each site.

Is transportation included from my hotel or Airbnb?

Yes, round-trip transportation is included from Cancun, Playa del Carmen, Tulum, and Akumal. We’ll pick you up right from your hotel, resort, or Airbnb for a stress-free start to your day.

Please note: we don’t offer pick up from Cancun Playa Mujeres hotels unless your group has 6 or more adults.

What vehicles do you use for your tours?
We offer a range of modern, air-conditioned vans to suit the size of your group and ensure a safe and comfortable journey. Visit our fleet page for more details.
Can I change the pick up time?

Yes, you’re welcome to choose your preferred pick-up time when booking.

That said, we recommend an early morning start to help you beat the crowds, skip the traffic, and enjoy cooler temperatures—it really makes a difference!

Is snorkeling experience required for this tour?

No previous snorkeling experience is required, but basic swimming skills are necessary.

We provide mandatory life vests, and our guide ensures a safe and comfortable experience for everyone.

Which cenote do we visit on this tour?
Choose Your Cenote: Open, Semi-Open, or Cave

You can view the list of cenotes available for this tour under the ‘Tour Description and General Info’ tab, where you'll also find links to full descriptions of each cenote.

Unless you've already made your choice, you can decide which cenote to visit together with your tour guide on the day of your tour.

Are cenotes cold? Are they easy to access?

No, cenotes aren’t too cold—they stay at a refreshing 75–79°F (24–26°C) year-round, which is perfect for a swim.

Most cenotes have easy access with platforms and just a few steps to get in and out comfortably.

Do we have to wear wetsuits?

No, wetsuits are not mandatory. Only life vests are required for safety.

We do provide wetsuits if you would like extra comfort, especially if you find the water chilly. Wearing a wetsuit can also help you stay in the water longer without getting cold.

Are there showers or changing rooms at the cenotes?

Yes. Facilities include clean showers, restrooms, and changing areas.

What should I bring for the tour? Where can I leave my belongings?
Check the "What to bring" tab on the tour page for the full packing list.

Be sure to bring the essentials: swimwear, a towel, and flip-flops/sandals.

You can safely leave your belongings in the van—our driver stays with it the entire time while you're out enjoying the activities.

Are vegetarian or special dietary meals available?

Yes, we’re happy to accommodate vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and other dietary needs or allergies.

After booking, you can let us know your needs by filling out the check-in form—just follow the link in your booking confirmation email.

What is the cancellation policy?
Go ahead and plan with confidence—your booking is fully flexible!

You can cancel free of charge or reschedule (subject to availability) up to 24 hours before your tour.

We’re a small team and often fully booked 1–2 weeks in advance, so we recommend booking early to secure your spot.
