Snorkeling in 2 Cenotes Private Tour

If you love snorkeling, our Cenotes private tour should be on top of your bucket list for your holidays in the Riviera Maya. Are you ready for an unique experience?

Some of the most fascinating natural wonders of the Riviera Maya are its cenotes, beautiful underground caverns formed by rainwater eroding limestone over centuries. Since there are so few rivers and lakes throughout the Yucatán Peninsula, these sources of fresh water were especially important and sacred to the ancient Maya.

Enjoy a smooth and immersive experience with private transportation, flexible timing, and your own snorkeling guide.

Best Cenote Tour Options in the Riviera Maya

Our all-inclusive cenote private tour invites you to join us in the exploration of two different cenotes, which you can pick from the list below. No two cenotes are alike – some are closed caves, while others are open, and they all have different geologic features, often including breathtaking stalactites and stalagmites. No matter which two you choose, you’re sure to have a memorable experience and fun!

Cenotes to Choose for Your Adventure

Cenote Nicte Ha: Swim into the clear waters and discover a hidden jungle paradise, where you can snorkel and marvel at beautiful lily flowers and playful schools of small fish. With a small cave that overlooks the entrance to the underground river.

Cenote Jaguar: Embark on an exhilarating adventure! Cliff jumping and zip line await you. A captivating open-air cenote surrounded by lush vegetation, where you can also easily access and swim.

Casa Cenote: a hidden gem mixing fresh water and the Caribbean Sea, where you can swim and snorkel through its mangrove channels and spot lots of schools of fish and birds.

Cenote Taak bi Ha: a small natural cave cenote nestled in the heart of the Mayan jungle, Swim and snorkel to marvel at stunning stalactites and stalagmites.

Cenote Dos Ojos: Venture into the fascinating Cenote Dos Ojos, renowned for its breathtaking cave system, offering a unique snorkeling experience amid impressive stalactites and a vibrant ecosystem . We won’t miss the Bat Cave (if water level allow the access)!

Cenote Eden Garden: Known for its natural beauty, this open-air cenote offers clear turquoise waters surrounded by lush greenery, creating a serene and picturesque environment for visitors to enjoy swimming and snorkeling. (this cenote is closed on Saturdays)

Yal Ku Lagoon: The lagoon’s interface with the ocean results in an intermingling of fresh and saltwater. There is abundant marine life visible, including many varieties of small colorful fish. The mangroves are particularly impressive and worth viewing. Their ecological importance and natural beauty make them a highlight of the area.

Cenote Pet Cemetery (Sac Actun): Step into the eerie realm of the Pet Cemetery, an intriguing cenote adorned with mystical rock formations and a hauntingly beautiful atmosphere, inviting you to unravel its mysterious tales while enjoying a memorable swim in its tranquil waters (there is an extra cost per person if you select this cenote).

Why you’ll love it:

  • All Gear Provided – Enjoy a hassle-free experience with high-quality snorkeling equipment, life vests, wetsuits included—no extra costs
  • Expert Private Guide – A certified snorkeling guide stays with you throughout the tour, adapting the pace and support to suit your comfort and skill level.

  2. Jordan

Dulce was an awesome guide who treated us like royalty! Her driver, Omar, was awesome also. They were delayed on the road by just five minutes or so from picking us up at our condo but were exceptionally communicative in messaging us their new arrival time. He personally saw to getting us outfitted and made sure our snorkeling gear was perfectly treated to keep from fogging up, that our flashlights had fresh batteries, and everyone had wetsuits who wanted them. Dulce took us into the back parts of the cenote that aren’t accessible without a professional guide and explained everything to us in great detail. Her English was perfect for those in the group who didn’t speak Spanish. Her lunch arrangements were fantastic as well. We couldn’t have asked for a better person to guide us!

  3. Will

Cristina is a mover and a shaker, she gets things done! What a power house! She has so much love for her country and so much knowledge. If you google “Mexico” her name will appear, lol! She’s amazing. Very impressed.

  4. Bri

This tour was wonderful! Our guides were great and very caring and attentive to all of our needs. We went with a group of 9 people and they were able to keep all of us comfortable, fed, and happy. We went to Jaguar & Tak Bi Ha – we loved both of these so much especially Jaguar that we will definitely be back and would also like to see the other cenotes! We took my 5 & 6 year old also and they had a blast swimming at both Cenotes. (if you don’t want to jump off the cliff and only wanted to swim or zip line then you were able to do that) Make sure to bring water shoes and go earlier rather than later! We went early in the morning and had one of the Cenotes all to ourself which was lovely. The only thing I would say to the staff for improvement would be to the restaurant we ate at. The food was pretty bland for Mexican food. I don’t mind my food bland usually and prefer it this way most of the time, however when I ate the chicken quesadillas I could really only taste tortilla and cheese.

  5. Meaghan

We had a fantastic tour with Eddie! He brought us to two wonderful Cenotes and gave our large group a fabulous experience. Lunch was an awesome way to end the tour. Rodrigo did a great job ensuring we arrived to and from safely. Highly recommend!!

  6. Stacey

Cristina and our driver Omar were great. The company was very easy to communicate with. Cristina had a lot of knowledge about everything we were seeing and she was a great guide in the cenote! Highly recommend!

  7. Michael

Great private 2 cenotes tour with lunch
Just did the 2 cenotes with lunch tour last week with Josh and Hugo with my wife and 12 and 14 year old. We did the pet cemetery ( sac actun) and the taak bi ha cenotes. Experience was awesome. Josh was an amazing guide taking us through pet cemetery for an hour and a half and then through taak bi ha for another half hour. Our kids thanked us for taking them. It was the highlight of our trip. Comfortable ride each way with Hugo and Josh. Couldn’t recommend this excursion or Hugo and Josh more highly.

  8. Kelly

Our guide Arturo was the man! Our group had a great time. I’d recommend this cenote tour to anyone.

  9. Viviane

    Dulce and Rodrigo were amazing!
Our Guide was Dulce and our driver was Rodrigo. They were 10/10, simply amazing!
We felt so taken care from the moment they picked us up until we got back to the hotel.
Dulce was extremely patient and explained the history of the Xenotes. We felt safe during the snorkeling session and amazed by everything. They were always asking if everything was alright and if we needed anything.
We chose Dos ojos and Taak bi ha and have no regrets, these memories will always be with us.
When we come back, we’ll do another experience and will ask for them!!
Communication with the company was great as well, Ruby replied our emails and assisted us with the payments.
Don’t hesitate – you can trust their service.

  10. Joshua

This cenotes tour was hands-down one of the highlights of our trip! From start to finish, everything was seamless, fun, and incredibly well organized.
Huge shoutout to Yosmar, our driver—professional, friendly, and made us feel completely safe the entire ride. He was always on time, super courteous, and somehow managed to make the drives between cenotes relaxing and enjoyable (which says a lot on vacation days!).
And Dulce, our tour guide… WOW. She was phenomenal. Knowledgeable, warm, and genuinely passionate about what she does. She explained the history and significance of each cenote in such an engaging way, answered every question with a smile, and made sure everyone felt comfortable and included. You could tell she truly cared about us having the best experience possible.
The cenotes themselves were breathtaking—crystal-clear water, stunning natural beauty, and plenty of time to swim, explore, and soak it all in without feeling rushed. Everything felt thoughtfully planned and perfectly paced.
If you’re even considering a cenotes tour, do it—and hope you get Yosmar and Dulce. They turned an already amazing excursion into an unforgettable experience. Highly, highly recommend! 🌊🌿💙

  11. Abhi

These guys were great. Juan and our driver were friendly, we got to the cenotes first and had a ton of fun, and Juan even taught one of us to swim. This experience was the highlight of our trip to Tulum

  12. SBoy1977

Outstanding Family Adventures with Absolute Adventures in Tulum – Highly Recommended!
We recently visited Tulum with our two teenage daughters and booked two half-day excursions with Absolute Adventures—and both were absolutely fantastic! We had the pleasure of having the same guide, Josh, for both trips, and he was truly exceptional.
First, we did the half-day cenotes tour. Josh led us to two stunning cenotes: one inside a dramatic cave filled with incredible stalactites (perfect for that wow-factor swim), and another magical open cenote surrounded by beautiful lily pads. He shared fascinating insights into the geology and formation of cenotes while we swam, making the experience both fun and educational.
The second excursion took us to the ancient Mayan ruins at Coba. Biking through the lush jungle paths to the site was a highlight—Josh kept our teens fully engaged the whole time with lively storytelling about Mayan history, pointing out wildlife, and answering every question. The girls were genuinely interested and excited, which is no small feat!
The transportation was spotless (clean van with plenty of room), and there was a well-stocked cooler full of cold drinks and water—such a thoughtful touch after all the activity.
Josh went above and beyond to make both days memorable, safe, and enjoyable for the whole family. His knowledge, enthusiasm, and genuine care really set these tours apart.
We wholeheartedly recommend Absolute Adventures for anyone visiting the Tulum area—whether you’re traveling with teens, kids, or just want an authentic, well-guided experience. Five stars aren’t enough! Thank you, Josh and the Absolute Adventures team!

  13. Amanda

Great cenote experience with our knowledgeable guide, Arturo, and our driver, Rodrigo! Both made our experience very enjoyable, and we felt like our safety was priority. We visited two cenotes – Nic Te Ha and Taak Bi Ha – very different flora and fauna, which Arturo knew all about…followed by lunch! Such a fun day – our 6 year old daughter loved it!

  14. Aasha

great experience! cristina was very knowledgeable and ivan was very helpful! definitely recommend. (go to the underground cenotes!!)

  15. Jay

Our Absolute Adventure cenotes excursion was absolutely amazing. Our tour guide Cristina was informative, engaging, and genuinely fun—she struck the perfect balance between education and enjoyment. She made everyone feel comfortable and well taken care of throughout the day.
Our driver, Ivan, was professional, friendly, and ensured smooth, safe transportation the entire time.
The highlight was Tak Bi Ha Cenote—an unforgettable experience. The cenote itself is stunning, peaceful, and unlike anything we’ve ever done before. Swimming there felt both adventurous and serene.
Highly recommend this tour and this team. If you’re considering a cenotes excursion in the area, this is the one to book.

  16. Leena

Cristina and Ivan were great tour guides. The Cenotes we went to had beautiful views. The underground Cenote was amazing, and the water was so clear and warm.

  17. Amy

    Fabulous cenote tour!
Arturo was a fabulous guide for our family at Sac Actun and Dos Ojos cenotes. He made sure we were comfortable and had a great time. Both cenotes were beautiful and interesting to visit. Would recommend this experience to anyone visiting the area.

  18. Tim

What a great experience! Claire, our tour guide was phenomenal and our driver Ivan was professional and took great care of us. Everyone in our party had a fantastic time!

  19. Garret

    Wonderful with our big family!
The tour guides were great! Wonderful experience and everyone was very helpful. They made it easy with big groups and kids. Even made strollers easy.

  20. Debbie

    Cenote Extravaganza!
This was my first visit to a cenote and it was absolutely fabulous!! My favorite part was snorkeling to an actual bat cave!! Arturo and his driver were both wonderful! Arturo was full of knowledge of the area and was extremely kind and flexible! I would highly recommend him as your guide. He won’t disappoint!!

These guys were great. Juan and our driver were friendly, we got to the cenotes first and had a ton of fun, and Juan even taught one of us to swim. This experience was the highlight of our trip to Tulum

  14. Aasha

FAQ 2 Cenotes Private Tour

Is the 2 Cenotes tour private or shared?
This is a private tour, just for you and your group.

You’ll have a dedicated guide and vehicle all to yourselves—no crowds, no waiting, just a smooth and personalized experience.

Is the driver also the guide?
No. The driver and guide are two different professionals. All our tours include a dedicated driver and a separate certified guide.  While some companies offer a guide-driver, we believe this is not safe. Having a driver focused solely on the road and a guide fully dedicated to our guests ensures a safer and higher-quality experience.
How long does a private 2 Cenotes tour take?
Please check the full itinerary in the “Itinerary” tab for more details.

It typically lasts between 4 to 6 hours, depending on your hotel location and how much time you’d like to spend at each site.

Is transportation included from my hotel or Airbnb?

Yes, round-trip transportation is included from Cancun, Playa del Carmen, Tulum, and Akumal. We’ll pick you up right from your hotel, resort, or Airbnb for a stress-free start to your day.

Please note: we don’t offer pick up from Cancun Playa Mujeres hotels unless your group has 6 or more adults.

What vehicles do you use for your tours?
We offer a range of modern, air-conditioned vans to suit the size of your group and ensure a safe and comfortable journey. Visit our fleet page for more details.
Can I change the pick up time?

Yes, you’re welcome to choose your preferred pick-up time when booking.

That said, we recommend an early morning start to help you beat the crowds, skip the traffic, and enjoy cooler temperatures—it really makes a difference!

Is snorkeling experience required for this tour?

No previous snorkeling experience is required, but basic swimming skills are necessary.

We provide mandatory life vests, and our guide ensures a safe and comfortable experience for everyone.

Which cenote do we visit on this tour?
Choose Your Cenote: Open, Semi-Open, or Cave

You can view the list of cenotes available for this tour under the ‘Tour Description and General Info’ tab, where you'll also find links to full descriptions of each cenote.

Unless you've already made your choice, you can decide which cenote to visit together with your tour guide on the day of your tour.

Are cenotes cold? Are they easy to access?

No, cenotes aren’t too cold—they stay at a refreshing 75–79°F (24–26°C) year-round, which is perfect for a swim.

Most cenotes have easy access with platforms and just a few steps to get in and out comfortably.

Do we have to wear wetsuits?

No, wetsuits are not mandatory. Only life vests are required for safety.

We do provide wetsuits if you would like extra comfort, especially if you find the water chilly. Wearing a wetsuit can also help you stay in the water longer without getting cold.

Are there showers or changing rooms at the cenotes?

Yes. Facilities include clean showers, restrooms, and changing areas.

What should I bring for the tour? Where can I leave my belongings?
Check the "What to bring" tab on the tour page for the full packing list.

Be sure to bring the essentials: swimwear, a towel, and flip-flops/sandals.

You can safely leave your belongings in the van—our driver stays with it the entire time while you're out enjoying the activities.

Are vegetarian or special dietary meals available?

Yes, we’re happy to accommodate vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and other dietary needs or allergies.

After booking, you can let us know your needs by filling out the check-in form—just follow the link in your booking confirmation email.

What is the cancellation policy?
Go ahead and plan with confidence—your booking is fully flexible!

You can cancel free of charge or reschedule (subject to availability) up to 24 hours before your tour.

We’re a small team and often fully booked 1–2 weeks in advance, so we recommend booking early to secure your spot.
