When visiting the Riviera Maya, two unforgettable experiences should be at the top of your list: discovering the region’s rich Mayan heritage and immersing yourself in the area's spectacular natural beauty.
With our private Tulum Ruins & Cenote Tour, you’ll enjoy the perfect balance of culture and adventure in just one day—without the stress of large groups or rigid schedules. This private experience is fully customized to your pace and preferences, offering exclusive access, expert guidance, and the flexibility to make the day your own.
Led by a certified guide, you’ll explore the Tulum Mayan ruins perched above the sea, then cool off in one or two handpicked cenotes. With private transportation, a flexible start time, and personal service, this journey offers a seamless and enriching escape.
Your experience begins with a guided visit to the ancient city of Tulum, one of the most iconic and scenic Mayan sites in Mexico. Once a thriving port and ceremonial center, Tulum was vital for trade along the Yucatán coast—where goods like jade, obsidian, and cacao once changed hands.
Set on a cliff overlooking the turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea, the site offers postcard-perfect views and a fascinating glimpse into the lives of the ancient Maya. Your guide will share the stories behind structures like the Temple of the Frescoes and El Castillo, along with cultural insights and fun facts tailored to your interests.
Thanks to early access and private transport, you’ll avoid the crowds and midday sun—perfect for uninterrupted photos and peaceful exploration.
Highlights:
After exploring the ruins, it’s time to unwind and refresh in a stunning cenote—a naturally formed freshwater pool hidden within the jungle. Whether you choose one or opt for two, each cenote offers a different experience, from sunlit open-air lagoons to mystical underground caverns filled with stalactites.
You’ll be provided with all the gear needed to swim or snorkel in crystal-clear waters, with a professional guide by your side to ensure safety and help you discover hidden details within the rock formations.
You can select from guest favorites like Cenote Nicte-Ha, Taak Bi Ha, or Jaguar, depending on your comfort level and interests. Want something more adventurous? For an additional $10 USD per person, you can upgrade to world-renowned cenotes like Dos Ojos or Pet Cemetery.
Why you’ll love it:
After your refreshing cenote swim, we’ll head to a peaceful jungle setting where a local restaurant awaits. You’ll relax under a thatched palapa and enjoy a homemade Mexican meal, with options available for vegetarians and guests with dietary restrictions.
This serene setting offers a chance to recharge and reflect on your day’s discoveries while enjoying traditional flavors and warm hospitality.

Tulum & 1 cenote with Mexican lunch
Our tour guide was Josh and driver was Omar, they picked us up at 7:30 and we’re so friendly from the get go. The van was all air conditioned and nice and clean which was welcomed in the heat. We went to the ruins first stop and Josh shared all his knowledge about the amazing Mayan history. His passion and enthusiasm and pride was evident in his story telling. It was great being there so early at 8 as soon as the park opened as we beat the crowds. From there we had picked Jaguar as our cenote however it begun pouring rain, so Josh suggested another cenote so we can experience the beautiful water out of the rain. taak Bi Ha was where we went and this place was pure magic! Josh let us swim for as long as we liked. From there we went to juanitas for a yummy Mexican lunch and the restaurant was so family friendly, the boys had a great time playing with the local pets and exploring. I can’t recommend this company enough. Private and very friendly.

A highlight of our trip!
This was a highlight of our trip! My husband, myself, and our 3 kids (ages 8, 6, and 4) were picked up promptly by Juan and Rodrigo and got to the ruins as soon as they opened – no crowds! They had booster seats we requested for the kids and a wide selection of drinks. They even happily made a pitstop for us to grab snacks for the kids. We were the only people at the Cenote and there was a great little place to jump off for the kids. Highly recommend! It felt like a super safe and fun experience!

Great host, and full of insightful information. Highly recommend!

We had an incredible private excursion exploring the Tulum ruins and snorkeling in the Dos Ojos cenote. The experience was both educational and fascinating, made even better by our guide, Juan. He was extremely knowledgeable and personable, sharing so much insight into Mayan history and the natural wonders of the area in a way that was engaging and easy to follow.
We also appreciated how smoothly everything went, thanks to Juan and our driver, Kiki (I believe that’s what he was introduced as). They were perfectly coordinated – the van was always ready and waiting to pick us up when it was time to move on, which was a huge plus in the heat (definitely recommend starting the excursion as early in the morning as possible).
Choosing the private tour over a shared group experience was absolutely worth it. We loved being able to move at our own pace, linger at spots that interested us, and never feel rushed. It made the whole day feel more relaxed and personalized. Highly recommend this excursion to anyone looking for a more intimate and enriching way to explore the Riviera Maya!
Aaron –
Highly recommend. I appreciated being able to make our own timeline, and the knowledge of the tours sure helped guide us as well.

Thank you Josh and Enrique for giving us a wonderful experience!

Great excursion.
Alex and Rodrigo took us to Tulum and a cenote, Alex was a great guide with a lot of information about the ruins and the history of the Maya and Mexico. We didn’t have to worry about anything Alex got all the wrist bands ready where we didn’t have to do any planning just walked straight into our tour sites. Would recommend to anyone looking for an excursion.

We had a spectacular time with Arturo this past weekend in Tulum. And highly recommend booking a private tour with the team here. From the moment we were picked up the ruin, cenote and lunch, we were so well taken care of. Arturo was incredible knowledgeable, from the history of the Mayan ruins to the animals and geology of the area, and then exploring the cenote. 10/10 and can’t wait to book again!

Myself & my wife had the pleasure of taking 2 tours recently with Absolute Adventure. The first tour was the Tulum Ruins and 1 cenote with Juan, who was an excellent guide, and our driver was also super. The second tour was the 2 cenote tour with Christina & driver Kike, who were both terrific. Both tours were excellent. We would highly recommend.

Went on a half-day tour to Tulum with Juan (JJ). What a knowledgeable and personalized guide who was great with our family group. Would highly recommend!!

Tulum Ruins and Los Dos Ojos cenote
Absolute Adventures was the only tour group that I could find that did an excursion from Tulum to both Los Dos Ojos cenote and the Tulum Ruins in a single day. This was a great private tour and Juan was a great and very personable guide. He was very informative about Tulum ruins in particular and Yucatan pre-colonial history in general. The ruins themselves are not large, but are beautifully situated along the coastal cliffs. Going with a guide in Los Dos Ojos allowed us to go in areas closed off to the general public. Life jackets are required. There are showers and changing rooms. Bring water shoes to get down the stairs to the pools. I highly recommend this tour.

Insightful Tulum Tour and Epic Turtle Snorkeling!
Highly recommend this adventure! Arturo was a very knowledgeable and friendly guide through the Tulum ruins. Having a guide explain the ruins makes it so much more valuable of a visit! And then snorkeling with the turtles was EPIC! Saw at least 10 or 15 giant turtles and snorkeled along a part of the coral reef. TONS of fish to see and good visibility. Was a great adventure day for our family of four! Loved the timely pick-up and private van with no stops or waiting.

Wonderful, personalized trip for the whole family
Our family of 11 (5 kids) took the Tulum and Cenote tour with Juan. It was the highlight of our week long stay in the PDC area! Juan did an amazing job of keeping the tour interesting and engaging for the kids, encouraging them to spot and keep count of the iguanas at Tulum, and recommended that we switch our initial cenote pick to one that was more kid friendly. The trip was a huge hit with the whole family from grandparents down to 8 year olds. The transportation as comfortable and seamless and it nice to be able to go at our own pace. Highly recommend the company and Juan especially. We will not hesitate to use them again.
Carolyn –
Juan was an amazing guide! We had the best time ecology in the cenotes. Thank you for everything!

I had a wonderful excursion to Tulum and a nearby cenote with my lovely girlfriend. Our tour guide Juan was fantastic and provided us with insight into the history, local culture, and traditions. He made sure to take us to the sites when they weren’t crowded so we could get the most out of our experience and capture some beautiful pictures of our time. Everything was exceeded our expectations. Thank you!!

Cristina and Juan were the best tour guides. Fun and very informative, they were helpful throughout the whole trip ans constantly making sure that we doing okay and that we were having fun. Just had an amazing experience with Absolute Adventure Mexico! We did the Tulum ruins tour and swimming in two stunning cenotes — Taak Bi Ha and Nicte Ha — and it was absolutely unforgettable.
The Tulum ruins were breathtaking, set right on the coast, and our guide shared so much fascinating insight into Mayan history and culture. Then we headed to the cenotes, which were magical — crystal-clear waters, incredible rock formations, and such a peaceful vibe.
Everything was super well organized, the guide was knowledgeable and friendly, and the small-group setting made it feel really personal. Highly recommend this tour if you’re in the area and want a mix of history, nature, and adventure!

You’ll have a dedicated guide and vehicle all to yourselves—no crowds, no waiting, just a smooth and personalized experience.
No. The driver and guide are two different professionals.
All our tours include a dedicated driver and a separate certified guide.
While some companies offer a guide-driver, we believe this is not safe. Having a driver focused solely on the road and a guide fully dedicated to our guests ensures a safer and higher-quality experience.
It typically lasts between 5 to 6 hours, depending on your hotel location and how much time you’d like to spend at each site. Please check the full itinerary in the “Itinerary” tab for more details.
Yes, round-trip transportation is included from Cancun, Puerto Morelos, Playa del Carmen, Puerto Aventuras, Akumal and Tulum. We’ll pick you up right from your hotel, resort, or Airbnb for a stress-free start to your day.
Please note: we don’t offer pick up from Cancun Playa Mujeres hotels unless your group has 6 or more adults.
We offer a range of modern, air-conditioned vans to suit the size of your group and ensure a safe and comfortable journey.
Yes, you’re welcome to choose your preferred pick-up time when booking.
That said, we recommend an early morning start to help you beat the crowds, skip the traffic, and enjoy cooler temperatures—it really makes a difference!
We take a shuttle from the parking lot to the main ruins entrance, so you won’t need to walk far to get to the site.
The guided visit lasts about 45 minutes and we go at a comfortable pace, with breaks if needed.
Just a heads-up—there aren’t many spots to sit. If you have any limitations with walking or taking steps, keep in mind that a few are required to get in and out of the site and to reach the cliff area.
No, unfortunately, we cannot. The beach located within the Tulum ruins has been closed since 2020 and remains inaccessible to visitors.
Additionally, this tour does not include any stops at the Tulum beach area, the hotel zone, or Tulum town center.
No previous snorkeling experience is required, but basic swimming skills are necessary.
We provide mandatory life vests, and our guide ensures a safe and comfortable experience for everyone.
You can view the list of cenotes available for this tour under the ‘Tour Description and General Info’ tab, where you'll also find links to full descriptions of each cenote.
We offer a variety of cenote types, including open-air, semi-open, and cave cenotes.
Unless you've already made your choice, you can decide which cenote to visit together with your tour guide on the day of your tour.
No, cenotes aren’t too cold—they stay at a refreshing 75–79°F (24–26°C) year-round, which is perfect for a swim.
Most cenotes have easy access with platforms and just a few steps to get in and out comfortably.
Yes. Facilities include clean showers, restrooms, and changing areas.
Check the "What to bring" tab on the tour page for the full packing list. Essentials include swimwear, a towel and comfortable shoes.
You can safely leave your belongings in the van—our driver stays with it the entire time while you're out enjoying the activities.
Yes, we’re happy to accommodate vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and other dietary needs or allergies.
After booking, you can let us know your needs by filling out the check-in form—just follow the link in your booking confirmation email.
You can cancel free of charge or reschedule (subject to availability) up to 24 hours before your tour.
We’re a small team and often fully booked 1–2 weeks in advance, so we recommend booking early to secure your spot.
Bonus: if you book at least 2 months in advance (60 days), you’ll qualify for our early bird discount*!
