Get ready for an unforgettable experience with our private tour of Dos Ojos cenote—a magical place near Tulum, famous for its crystal-clear waters and incredible underground world. This snorkeling tour lets you explore both "eyes" of the cenote, swim through the largest underground river system in Mexico, and enjoy a peaceful jungle lunch away from the crowds.
Dos Ojos isn’t just popular among travelers—it’s also a Hollywood favorite! This cenote has been featured in the IMAX film “Journey Into Amazing Caves”, the movie “The Cave”, and the BBC’s Planet Earth series. When you snorkel here, you're entering a world so unique it has captured the imagination of filmmakers and scientists alike.
The name “Dos Ojos” means “two eyes” in Spanish, referring to the two circular sinkholes visible from above. Each eye offers a unique snorkeling experience. On our tour, you'll visit both:
The first eye is filled with natural light and shallow areas, perfect for beginners and children. You'll admire dramatic limestone formations and see the light rays dance underwater. The second eye is darker, more mysterious, and includes areas with stunning stalactites and stalagmites. This part of the cenote is deeper and more dramatic, ideal for snorkelers looking for a more immersive cave experience.
One of the most exciting highlights of this Dos Ojos cenote tour is the Bat Cave. This hidden chamber is only accessible with a certified guide and reached by a short swim through narrow passages filled with ancient stalactites. Inside, you'll find a large dome where bats rest during the day, hanging quietly from the cave ceiling. However, please note that during the rainy season, the water level in the cenote may rise significantly. This can make the passage to the Bat Cave inaccessible or unsafe to cross.
After your underwater journey, we’ll take you to a family-run restaurant nestled in the jungle. A delicious Mexican lunch will be served, freshly prepared with local ingredients and traditional recipes. It’s the perfect moment to relax, chat with your guide, and relive the best parts of your Dos Ojos adventure surrounded by nature.
We provide everything you need for an easy and enjoyable snorkeling session. You'll receive high-quality masks, snorkels, wetsuits, life vests, and waterproof flashlights. For families, we also offer children’s gear, including small wetsuits, kid-sized life vests, and small snorkel-masks. This makes the tour safe and fun for children as young as 4 or 5 years old, as long as they are comfortable in the water and know how to swim.
Our private Dos Ojos cenote tour is designed to give you a smooth, safe, and personalized experience. We include everything: private round-trip transportation from your hotel, early arrival to avoid crowds, all entrance fees, and a certified guide who stays with your group throughout the day. You'll explore areas not accessible to regular visitors, like the Bat Cave, and have full control over your pace and comfort. This is an all-inclusive experience where every detail is taken care of—from top-grade snorkeling equipment to a peaceful jungle lunch. You don’t need to bring anything but your swimsuit and a sense of wonder.

Amazing Snorkel Adventure in Cenote
Incredible experience with cenotes/snorkeling! the water was a great temperature and our guide was awesome – very safe and don’t need to be a strong swimmer to have fun.
The cave was great to see and snorkeling made it possible to explore so much of the cave. It was a total of 2 hours and then lunch was really great – an authentic Mexican meal at the end after swimming.

great time! The bar cave was really cool

Awesome excursion
This excursion to the dos ojos cenotes was awesome! Arturo is a fantastic guide, very informative and fun. The cenotes was beautiful, crystal clear water for snorkeling. Had such a great time. I highly recommend this excursion with Arturo and Absolute Adventure Mexico. My husband does not like snorkeling (we are in our late 60’s) and he was very hesitant to go, but when he had a choice to exit the water or swim back he readily said swim back! He claimed this excursion was the best part of the whole trip and I totally agree! Going into the bat cave was awesome, swimming between stalactites and stalagmites, wow! An experience I’ll never forget! Thank you Arturo for a great time.
Linda –

I highly recommend this excursion. was the best part of our whole trip. Thank you Arturo and Absolute Adventure Mexico for the awesome experience.

That was simply an amazing experience, Alex (guide) was awesome , as was our first tour of a Cenote. if you haven’t done this before, you need to put this on your bucket list and make it happen. If you get to Playa, Del, Carmen, or anywhere nearby. Absolute adventures was fantastic to work with on all levels, and both our driver and guide were wonderful people, Alex at all times made sure that safety was a top priority, and made us feel comfortable throughout the whole process,. The authentic Mayan lunch that we had after our tour was fantastic, everyone of my family members enjoyed it. We will definitely use Absolute Adventures for any future excursion, when we return to the area !

Wonderful private Dos Ojos Cenote Tour for the family!
My family (two adults and 14 yo teenagers) had a great private Dos Ojos Cenote private tour with Arturo. The driver (Grigorio – not sure of the spelling) was also very pleasant and courteous. The pick up from the hotel was seamless and drive to Dos Ojos was smooth. Wet suits, snorkel gear, flashlights, etc were all provided. Arturo did a wonderful job explaining how cenotes were formed and was patient and friendly throughout the experience. The bat cave was really fascinating! The only thing that wasn’t outstanding was the included lunch that was at the end of the tour – the restaurant is the one that is on the Dos Ojos Cenote property, and while the waitress and staff were super friendly and attentive, the food itself was bland and juices watered down. Overall, I recommend this particular tour and if I get a chance to head back to the Yucatan area, I’d defo reach out to Absolute Adventure Mexico for some other cenote excursions!

Exploring Dos Ojos Cenote: Juan and Carlos – The Dream Team
My recent trip to Dos Ojos Cenote with Juan as our tour guide and Carlos as the driver was nothing short of incredible. Juan’s extensive knowledge of the cenote’s geological marvels added depth to our exploration, and his passion for the natural beauty of the area was truly inspiring. Carlos, our skilled driver, ensured a smooth journey to and from the cenote, making the experience hassle-free. Together, Juan and Carlos created a memorable adventure, and I can’t recommend them enough for anyone looking to discover the wonders of Dos Ojos Cenote.

This tour was incredible! The highlight of our stay in Tulum. Carlos was our driver and was so friendly and kind. Alex was our tour guide and he was so nice, so helpful and made the tour so enjoyable. We learnt so much about the Cenotes and had a really nice lunch with Alex too. Would 100% recommend this tour and it’s fantastic guides! Thank you so much.

Carlos and Alex G were our guides and were both so friendly and we had a great day with them. The cenotes we visited were beautiful and this day was the highlight of our stay in Tulum. The trip was well organised, fun and really interesting!

We recently went on the Dos Ojos Cenote tour. It was possibly one of, if not the, best excursion we have ever been on!
We were fortunate enough to see/be shown all of the amazing sights . The astounding Cenote structures themselves, snorkeling beneath the bats, the birds and the surrounding natural beauty, all of which was made that extra bit special by our tour guide Alex.G and his fantastic tour and knowledge of the area and its rich cultural history.
Big thank you’d to both Alex G and Carlos for taking us on a breathtaking adventure!! We cannot wait to come back and tour more cenotes!!

Amazing Experience! A breathtaking experience for our first family trip to a cenote!
From the booking to the end of the tour, this was a first-class experience! Claire coordinated the tour, including pick-up (at a location that was not on the drop-down menu), and regular communication via text. The driver arrived as scheduled, along with our guide, Arturo. Throughout the tour, Arturo shared his knowledge and was patient with our family of seven. He made sure to check in with each person individually throughout the tour to make sure that we were all having the best experience. After swimming in the cenotes, we enjoyed an amazing Mayan lunch with Arturo, where we shared some laughs had more photo opportunities.
We would recommend this to anyone visiting the area!
Brittany –
Amazing! Our tour guide Joshua was amazing and very informative. He guided us through the cenotes with ease and along the way he helped us learn about Mayan culture along the way. Would definitely recommend this tour

Juan and Carlos were the best hosts I’ve ever had. This was my friends and I favorite excursion while in Tulum. He stayed with me and my friend while we were in the Cenotes due to a lack of confidence with swimming in deep water. Also, he gave us a nice tour throughout the Cenotes and just the location. We loved him a lot! If you can, book with Juan aka JJ and Carlos for a memorable and great experience!
Sarah –
Highly recommend this for anyone visiting the Playa Del Carmen area. Joshua was an amazing guide and we loved having the place to ourselves. Definitely suggest booking the private tour and getting an early start. 10/10 would visit again!
Dave P –
Truly unique Yucatán experience! 2hour drive from Cancun, but guide, snorkeling the crystal clear cenotes and lunch was worth it.
Joseph –
We appreciated an early pickup so missed the crowds. Juan our guide was very personable, knowledgeable and fun but was very respectful of our privacy. The cenotes we visited were gorgeous and lunch was excellent. We look forward to future tours and hope Juan is our adventure buddy.

Best way to see the cenotes! Great experience! Guide, Dulce, and driver, Omar, were excellent! Recommended start time got us to the first cenote just after it opened— saw fish, turtles, and amazing plants— we were the only ones there. Dos Ojos was terrific as well. Dulce was the perfect combination of knowledgeable, helpful, and relaxed. The private tour meant we were able to enjoy each spot at our own pace. Highly recommend!
