What is the Safe Travels certificate?

You are going to start to see many places around the world using the Safe Travels stamp, but what does it really mean and provides you? When you select your travel or tour agency, how to make sure the Safe Travels certificate is true?

Who established the Safe Travels Certificate?

The Safe Travels certificate has been established by WTTC, the World Travel & Tourism Council.
They aim at representing the global private sector of Travel & Tourism to ensure the sector is “seamless, secure, safe and sustainable”. In the case of the Safe Travels program, the protocols is setting up commom standards taking into account current WHO and CDC guidelines.

SAFE TRAVELS ABSOLUTE ADVENTURE MEXICO

How to get the Safe Travels Certificate?

In the case of Mexico, the state of Quintana Roo has committed to set up a protocol and certification process for all companies that would like to participate and align with the WTTC protocols.

As of today more than 6,000 companies in Quintana Roo have applied to participate to the program. Not all of them have been certified (yet).

  • To get the certificate, you need to be an official registered company, and have all your legal documentation, declarations and taxes in order.
  • You need also to set up a sanitary protocole for your company, training for your staff and the proofs of implementation of your protocole (with reports and pictures).

Once a company gets certified:

  • They are delivered with a certificate CCPPSIT, where figures the name of the company, its registration number and a QR code that links to the SEDETUR, secretary of tourism so that people can check that the certificate is true.
  • They are allowed to use the Safe Travels logo on their website, marketing and social media campaigns.

How to verify the certificate?

Before booking any services, we recommend you check if the company has the CCPSIT certificate and verify it with the QR code.
Many could be tempt to use the logo without going through the whole process, and makes the market with unfair competition.
This process and certification is a commitment from the legal companies operating in Riviera Maya to offer the best and safest experience possible to the travelers in our beautiful destination.

Absolute Adventure is Safe Travels Certified

On 6,000 + companies that submitted their files to get the certificate, we are proud to be the 30th company to obtain the certificate!

You can consult our protocoles on our dedicated page.

Choosing a private tour is even more important today than before. Not only it will offer you a unique exclusive experience but also a safest one!

SAFE TRAVELS CERTIFIED

On 6,000 companies that submitted their files to get the certificate, we were proud to be the 30th company to obtain the certificate on June 11th 2020!

On June 11th, Absolute Adventure Mexico received the CPPSIT - SAFE TRAVELS certificate (the Tourist Health Safety Certification) delivered by SEDETUR (tourism secretary), SESA (health secretary) and the Government of Quintana Roo.

The certificate confirms we have successfully implemented and set up all sanitary measures to prevent and further reduce the risk of contamination.

Safety Measures for Covid-19 and tours in Playa del Carmen, Cancun and Tulum

We want to outline the new safety precautions Absolute Adventure will be taking regarding the Coronavirus on our private tours.

These measures may be updated and changed at any time to comply with the government health recommendations and rules of the places we will visit. Booking a tour with us implies you agree to take part in these measures.

Sanitized vans

Vehicles are fully cleaned before and after each tour.

This includes wiping down all surfaces and spraying them with an antibacterial product. We then close the van overnight for full disinfection to take place.

Each van is used only once per day for one private tour service.

Temperature check

For your safety, when your guide welcomes you, there will be no hugs or handshakes 😉 We will take your temperature with a non-contact infrared thermometer.

If your temperature exceeds 100.4°F (38°C) you will not be able to proceed with the tour. We will provide you with the procedure to follow to obtain medical support. Our drivers and guides will also daily take their temperature before starting to work.

Staff & Guests Hygiene

Antibacterial hand gel will be available to use when getting into and out of the vehicle. We will ask everyone to use the facilities at each place we visit and wash their hands thoroughly before and after each activity.

In order to reduce any risk of spreading coronavirus, Absolute Adventure will include mandatory use of masks for all staff and guests. If you do not have your own mask, we will provide a single use mask (adults and kids masks available).

Restaurants

We will only be visiting restaurants that are following the health recommendations.

The restaurants we include in our private tours offer open air tables and respect the social distancing guidelines between tables. Menus will not be handed out; instead your guide will inform you of the menu choice for you to place your order.

Snorkeling Equipment

We follow the DAN protocol (Divers Alert Network) for cleaning all diving and snorkeling equipment.

Everything will be cleaned with sodium hypochlorite after each use to eliminate the virus. Of course, you can bring your own equipment if you prefer.

Early pick up

To further reduce the risk of coming into contact with the coronavirus, our tours will all start in the early morning. We will bypass the crowds by being the first on-site, avoiding the heat and the lines that build up later in the day.

It will also give you the best possible experience and you’ll get great photos of the attraction!

We look forward to welcoming you back to Playa del Carmen, Cancun and Tulum and appreciate your support. Rest assured, we take the coronavirus prevention very seriously, hence our new guidelines for Covid-19 and tours in Playa del Carmen, Cancun and Tulum.
