Is it worth booking ferry tickets online?

You can book online upfront the Cozumel-Playa Del Carmen tickets, but we would recommend not buy the return ticket, so that for the return, depending on the time you arrive you can buy the tickets for the company operating at that time, because if you buy return tickets you may have to wait for the next ferry.

Also, remember that if you miss the ferry, the next hour’s ferry will be from the other company, so either you will have to buy a ticket from the other company to take the next one, or else take the ferry 2 hours later.

For the ferry from Cozumel to Playa del Carmen, from 7 a.m. and 8 a.m., we recommend that you arrive at least 20/30 minutes in advance to have time to buy the ticket and be sure to be able to board. A ticket purchased on site or online does not guarantee boarding at the desired time.

The earliest ferry from Cozumel to Playa del Carmen is 6am or 7am (depends on months), so you can be picked up in Playa del Carmen around 7am or 8am.
