Journey Through Mayan History and Jungle Cenotes
1. Discover the Tulum Mayan Ruins
Your experience begins with a guided visit to the ancient city of Tulum, one of the most iconic and scenic Mayan sites in Mexico. Once a thriving port and ceremonial center, Tulum was vital for trade along the Yucatán coast—where goods like jade, obsidian, and cacao once changed hands.
Set on a cliff overlooking the turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea, the site offers postcard-perfect views and a fascinating glimpse into the lives of the ancient Maya. Your guide will share the stories behind structures like the Temple of the Frescoes and El Castillo, along with cultural insights and fun facts tailored to your interests.
Thanks to early access and private transport, you’ll avoid the crowds and midday sun—perfect for uninterrupted photos and peaceful exploration.
Highlights:
- Guided exploration with a certified private guide
- Stunning cliffside views over the Caribbean
- Fascinating Mayan history and architecture
- Early arrival to beat the crowds and heat
2. Swim and Snorkel in a Cenote (or Two!)
After exploring the ruins, it’s time to unwind and refresh in a stunning cenote—a naturally formed freshwater pool hidden within the jungle. Whether you choose one or opt for two, each cenote offers a different experience, from sunlit open-air lagoons to mystical underground caverns filled with stalactites.
You’ll be provided with all the gear needed to swim or snorkel in crystal-clear waters, with a professional guide by your side to ensure safety and help you discover hidden details within the rock formations.
You can select from guest favorites like Cenote Nicte-Ha, Taak Bi Ha, or Jaguar, depending on your comfort level and interests. Want something more adventurous? For an additional $10 USD per person, you can upgrade to world-renowned cenotes like Dos Ojos or Pet Cemetery.
Why you’ll love it:
- Enjoy the flexibility to book one or two cenotes
- Great for all ages and skill levels—no current or waves
- Snorkeling, cliff-jumping, or peaceful floating—your choice
- Unique geological formations and sacred surroundings
- Refreshing escape from the tropical heat
3. Savor a Jungle Lunch Experience
After your refreshing cenote swim, we’ll head to a peaceful jungle setting where a local restaurant awaits. You’ll relax under a thatched palapa and enjoy a homemade Mexican meal, with options available for vegetarians and guests with dietary restrictions.
This serene setting offers a chance to recharge and reflect on your day’s discoveries while enjoying traditional flavors and warm hospitality.

Amazing experience. My friends and I really enjoyed this private tour. Alex G. and Carlos showed up at our hotel on time and provided some history on our drive to the Tulum ruins. Alex made sure we had everything we needed and provided so much information we wouldn’t have learned had we done the trip by ourselves. We had a choice of cenotes and we went with Taak Bi Ha, which was amazing. I’ve never experience anything like that in my life. We really enjoyed our time and highly recommend Absolute Adventure.

The BEST-don’t hesitate! Amazing!!! This experience exceeded any expectations that I had. Our tour guide, Juan, was knowledgeable, experienced, savvy, fun and thoughtful. He knew all the tricks of getting us around in Tulum-with amazing photo ops to start, shady spots to tell us about the history and all the ways to skirt around the crowds. He then took us to the Cenotes where we had the best experiences! Zip lining, cliff jumps, snorkeling in caves shopping all followed by an amazing lunch at a restaurant in the jungle. I highly recommend this tour!

Just book it! Incredible experience, it definitely exceeded our expectations. Our tour guide Arturo is a fantastic guy, very knowledgeable about Tulum and Mayan history. Tulum was busy but Arturo took us on a good route to see everything and learn about the site. Next, the cenote he recommended was just magical and we couldn’t believe how quiet it was, there were only a few other people there. Arturo was patient teaching us how to snorkel which I was most nervous about. Lunch afterwards was super tasty! Omar was a great driver and the van was very comfortable. Overall a very special experience I highly recommend you book with Absolute Adventure!

Our guide Arturo was awesome! We had an amazing time and even though our visit to the Tulum ruins was early, it was totally worth it. The people were coming in by the bus loads as we were leaving. Timing is everything on a holiday!! The cenote was amazing!!! Lunch was an incredible stop! Awesome traditional Mexican lunch. Our daughters gluten free needs were met better than expected!! We will stop there for lunch again!! Our guide was very informative and had a terrific sense of humor. Spoke English very well as our Spanish is very limited.

We were picked up on time. The van we traveled in was comfortable. They had cold water and soda in a cooler ready for us. Our guide was Juan. He was such a pleasure! Spoke very good English and was very knowledgeable about Mayan culture and history. The Tulum and cenote experience alone was great but Juan made it even better. We had an amazing time! Worth every penny. Will definitely use this company again on future trips.

Our tour guide Alex was a wealth of information. Not only did he explained what we were seeing but the why and how. He knew the path to take through the site to tie the story together upon exit. We were allowed to travel at our pace, not rushed, answered all questions, gave his opinion on “why” the Mayans did what they did, inserted humor and was an engaging guide. The cave denote was incredible and the meal provide yes fantastic.

What an amazing excursion! We did a private tour of Tulum and a cenote as a group of 5, and Alex was an incredible guide. He’s super knowledgeable, explains things clearly, gives great context, and is just fun to hang out with. The cenote we chose was an underground cave, and Alex knew all about stalagmites, stalactites, geological formations, etc. Lunch was excellent and we were even able to add on a stop on Quinta Avenida for a few hours. Rodrigo was also a great driver, on time and accommodating. The private tour was well worth it, but I highly recommend booking with Absolute Adventure either way.

Our family of four had an amazing private tour back in December. Chris was our guide, and we toured the ruins and two cenotes. We also had delicious tacos for lunch. Our kids (ages 21 and 15) said it was their favorite part of our trip. I highly recommend booking your private tour with this company. Chris was wonderful- very easy going and knowledgeable about the sites and fun to talk to. The communication after booking up until the day of was very prompt and thorough. Everything exceeded our expectations.

Tulum and cenotes w/o hassles. We fit two cenotes into this day trip (We got to choose from three possibilities) including a spectacular swim through a cave filled with stalactites. We chose this tour hoping to fit a lot in one day and Arturo made that happen, expertly getting us through throngs of tourists to enjoy the highlights of Tulum. It was great to be picked up and to be able to leave our items without worry in the van with our driver. All snorkeling equipment was provided. Thanks Arturo for your insight into Mayan culture! Wonderful day.

One of the best things of our vacation! This private tour has ruined us for any group tours from here on out. Alex the tour guide and Omar the driver were the best dynamic duo! Alex was very knowledgeable and Omar was a very safe and steady driver! They picked up us on time, plenty of community and confirmation through WhatsApp days before, and never rushed us during the whole trip. Would recommend 100%.

We had a group of 14 adults and 3 kids under 3 years old for the Tulum and Cenote tour and everything went wonderfully.

Wonderful day out. Dulce was an excellent guide and Omar was a great driver. We first went to the ruins – dulce was so informative and the morning was quite pleasant. Then off to an underground Cenote. Great fun. Would highly recommend this tour.

We had such an incredible time on our tour with Alex as our guide and Carlos as our driver! We started the day touring the Tulum ruins, then went snorkeling in a beautiful cenote, and finished with a tasty Mayan lunch. Alex was a very knowledgeable tour guide and made the ruins come alive with interesting facts and stories. He also was able to answer all of our many questions. Carlos was professional and friendly. We highly recommend this tour!

We went jan 2nd 2023 with Arturo as our guide. He was very knowledgeable, friendly, spoke English well, and took time to explain things to our 8 and 10yo. Would highly recommend thos service with Arturo. Easy well paced tour. Well worth the money and much better than a group guided tour.

We had a wonderful tour with Dulce as our guide and Carlos as our driver. Both were professional and courteous. Dulce was extremely knowledgeable and was able to answer all of our questions. After a very interesting tour of the ruins we snorkeled at a beautiful denote. The beauty of the area was sensational. We then had a delicious lunch topped off by a shot of tequila. Dulce is an excellent guide and a pleasure to spend the day with.
