Tequila Tour in the Jungle with Tulum Ruins and/or Cenote Swim

If you love tequila, our private Tequila Tour is the perfect experience! Discover how tequila is made in Mexico from blue agave plants and enjoy a tasting of six different types of tequila and mezcal. This tour is both fun and educational — and it starts with a special visit before your tasting!

Authentic Tequila Tasting in a Jungle Palapa

Enjoy your tequila tasting in a traditional palm-roofed palapa, nestled in the jungle at an outdoor bar. This shady Mayan-style shelter offers the perfect setting to relax, take amazing photos, and soak up the unique ambiance of the region.

Tequila Tasting Experience: Sample 6 Types of Tequila and Mezcal

You’ll get to sample six different types of tequila and mezcal, including Blanco, Reposado, Añejo, and Extra Añejo. Learn the difference between tequila and mezcal, how they’re made, and how to recognize their unique flavors. Your private guide will share fun facts and answer all your questions, so you’ll know exactly what to buy or order back home.

Will you prefer the crisp Blanco or the deep complexity of Extra Añejo? Or maybe the smoky taste of mezcal? This is a cultural and educational experience — not just a tequila bar stop!

Both options offer a unique way to experience the Yucatán’s rich culture and natural wonders.

Want to visit both the ruins and a cenote? That’s possible with a minimum of 4 participants.

Traditional Lunch Before Your Tasting

Trip1: Chichen Itza ruins and Valladolid

Absolutely superb day visiting Chichen Itza with Arturo. Starting early in the morning to beat the crowds and the heat, we were picked up at our hotel (thanks to driver Enrique). It was a long journey but we had stops on the way. Arturo was very knowledgeable, giving us lots of facts, highlighting the key areas, explaining the main gods, customs and way of life. Lucky enough to see woodpecker and motmot birds too. As we left the site was crammed with visitors so we were thankful we had the early start. Had a delicious lunch in Valladolid with recommended typical Yucatan cuisine.

Fabulous trip, waited a lifetime to see Chichen Itza and was not disappointed. This is a well organised day out and we were really looked after. We have 2 more trips booked this week. Very highly recommend booking with Absolute Adventure Mexico.

Trip 2: Tequila Tour in the Mayan Jungle with Tulum ruins

We had the same guide for Tulum that we had for Chichen Itza which was brilliant as he told us about the differences in the old cities and the building types. It was an amazing place. We also got there super early and were the first on site which made for amazing photos and no crowds. They do seem to factor in the best times for heat and crowds.

Lunch was really fresh at a lovely restaurant in the jungle. We also did the tequila/mezcal tasting over lunch with insight given into the different types of tequila/mezcal.

    Another amazing tour.

    Trip 3: Coba Express

Took our 3rd trip with Absolute Adventure Mexico during our stay, and what a memorable trip they made. Coba is stunning, the guides are full of knowledge about the history, language and culture. Loved the tricycle taxi around the site, really helps in the heat. Amazing to be able to climb the main temple and see the view across the jungle, well worth the sore knees. Once again the early start proved to be the best tip. Less crowded here than other sites. Guide also told us about newer sites and finds so cannot wait to visit Mexico again.

Don’t hesitate to book these tours, excellent value and you are well taken care of.

  2. Sarah

We had the same guide for Tulum that we’d had for Chichen Itza which was brilliant as he told us about the differences in the old cities and the building types. It was fantastic. We also got there super early and were the first on site which made for amazing photos and no crowds. They do seem to factor in the best times for heat and crowds. Lunch was really fresh at a jungle restaurant. We also did the tequila/mezcal tasting, and it was genuinely tasting over lunch, not a sales opportunity.

  3. sarahmillie

Wonderful half day trip. We took the trip to Tulum ruins with lunch and tequila tasting included. This was a half day setting off early to beat the crowds and heat. Had the same guide for Chichen Itza so got to hear about the differences in cities and buildings. Tulum is stunning and being the first people in was amazing. I don’t know the name of the restaurant but the food was so fresh. Tried 6 different tequila/mezcal samples, and it was from a variety of bottles they took with them, and no selling at allWonderful half day trip.

  4. Stephanie

Our group had the best time with Arturo as our guide and Rodrigo as our driver! The ruins, cenote, and tequila tasting with lunch was the highlight of our trip. Cannot recommend this tour enough!

  5. Derek

Arturo was a fantastic host. A great time and lots of laughs. Would highly recommend

  6. Myuah

Arturo is AMAZING. The service is great, they were so kind and accommodating to our large group of 11.

  7. Louise

We would like to say a huge ‘thank you’ to Arturo and our driver for a fantastic tour! Booking was super simple and the correspondence confirming everything were great. The minibus turned up perfectly on time and had ample room for everything we needed (we were travelling with two children) and was well stocked with water etc. Arturo was so friendly and knowledgeable, and carefully tailored the tour to suit us. During our tour of Tulum he did a great job of entertaining our 7 year old with facts, including sacrifices (he did check first!) and always making sure we were ok and stopping if we needed a break in the shade with our 18 month old. He made sure to keep us away from the crowd and helped with some beautiful photos. We then went on to our tequila tasting in the most beautiful restaurant in the jungle, we had a fantastic meal and had the whole place to ourselves to explore. Again Arturo was conscious of making sure the whole party was happy and catered for at all times. The tequila tasting was awesome, great to find out the difference between each one and have guided tastings to find out favourites. The staff in the restaurant were also incredibly kind and friendly. I would highly recommend booking with Absolute Adventure and look forward to our next trip when we return to Mexico

  8. Kayla

    Exceptional experience
Our tour guide was a 100000/10! Me and my family were scared to go into the cenote underground due to us not knowing how to swim but our tour guide hopped in the water with us and guide us through the process and helped me overcome my fears! The food was 10/10 and was included. The tequila tasting 10/10, we learned so much about tequila and which tequila is not real. Our driver and tour guide was the absolute nicest! Wish to book them again when we visit!

  9. Dreamer35750416143

    The BEST -Absolutely Adventure!
Tulum & Tequila tasting & lunch in jungle tour. Arturo was our guide, he’s fantastic! He is so knowledgeable on not just the ruins and tequila, but just about anything regarding Mexico. This is the second tour Ive done with Absolute Adventure Mexico, both were equally exceptional. We will tour with them again!

  10. Jessica

Arturo was INCREDIBLE! We really got to see several sides of tulum with this tour. He’s super knowledgeable and made everything fun for me and my bachelorette crew. The cenote was really cool with the zip line and the ruins were breath taking. The lunch was also super tasty!

  11. Brenna

Our tour guide was amazing!! So helpful for everything we did and so knowledgeable

  12. Zac

Tour guide was super knowledgable about all aspects of the tour, and took us through some impressive Mayan ruins and swam in a Cenote afterwards. Incredible experience and would recommend this 100%. Learned a lot about tequila too

  13. Kevin

I had a blast on the tour. I loved to learn about some of the history of the Mayans. Our tour guide was humorous, so we had some good laughs all throughout our tour. The snorkeling was great for my 1st time snorkeling. Definitely my favorite part of the tour. We finished with lunch and a tequila tasting. Lunch was yummy and I found some tequilas that I like! 10/10

  14. Jeanie

The whole experience was great the tour guides Aurturo and Josh and all the staff were very knowledgeable friendly and helpful!

  15. Gabrielle

Wife and I loved every second of it! They provided transportation to and from our resort and took great care of us. We swam in an underground cenote that was beautiful and the guide had so much knowledge to share. The lunch menu they provided was authentic Mexican and was absolutely delicious and the large selection of tequilas and and Mezcales were a great bonus. This is a must do if you’re in the area! You’ll love every second of it and it’ll be a memory you’ll cherish forever!

  16. HT

    Highly recommend, great tour company
Day trip tour to Tulum ruins, cenote swimming, lunch and tequila tasting. Private tour for 4 of us – we were collected from our hotel and had a private guide and driver. Great air conditioned mini bus. Artur & Enrique were great guys, very friendly and knowledgeable. Had the most amazing memorable day. Arrived at the Tulum ruins at 8am to avoid the heat and the crowds, which was a great idea. Arthur was very knowledgeable and pointed out things you would never notice just wandering around on your own. From there we went to Nicte Ha cenote (you could choose from a choice of 3 different cenote of differing types) and had life jackets and snorkel gear provided. Absolutely stunning and very quiet and peaceful. After that we had a lovely Mexican lunch at a local restaurant followed by Artur talking us through the different types of Tequila with tasting too – very informative and fun. A fantastic and memorable day we all loved.

  17. Regina

Auturo and Rodrigo were absolutely amazing! Arturo was extremely knowledgeable. From pickup to drop, they were attentive and assured that we had a wonderful experience. I would highly recommend touring with Absolute Adventure Mexico!

  18. Jean

    Best day ever
    Such a great experience
Our tour guide was so knowledgeable and very considerate of our group as well as others .
I would most definitely use Absolute Adventures again.

  19. Mary

    Amazing experience!!
The whole experience was amazing! Arturo was a very knowledgeable guide with a lot of great information, any questions we had he was able to answer and go in more depth about it as well. The Tulum experience was beautiful, the cenote was breathtaking with a few options to choose from, and the tequila tasting gave us a lot of good information about choosing a good tequila while letting us experience it for ourselves from various different options! Lunch was incredible at Pepem, and Rodrigo was an excellent driver to take us around! Great experience!

  20. Eveleen

Fantastic Tour to a Cenote and Tequilla Tasting- small and intimate experience with a local guide who took us to the most stunning cenote, early in the morning we were the only ones there! Also had a delicious authentic Mexican lunch and top shelf generous tequila tasting.. 10/10 Highly recommend
