Tequila Tour in the Jungle with Tulum Ruins and/or Cenote Swim

If you love tequila, our private Tequila Tour is the perfect experience! Discover how tequila is made in Mexico from blue agave plants and enjoy a tasting of six different types of tequila and mezcal. This tour is both fun and educational — and it starts with a special visit before your tasting!

  1. Authentic Tequila Tasting in a Jungle Palapa

Enjoy your tequila tasting in a traditional palm-roofed palapa, nestled in the jungle at an outdoor bar. This shady Mayan-style shelter offers the perfect setting to relax, take amazing photos, and soak up the unique ambiance of the region.

  2. Tequila Tasting Experience: Sample 6 Types of Tequila and Mezcal

You’ll get to sample six different types of tequila and mezcal, including Blanco, Reposado, Añejo, and Extra Añejo. Learn the difference between tequila and mezcal, how they’re made, and how to recognize their unique flavors. Your private guide will share fun facts and answer all your questions, so you’ll know exactly what to buy or order back home.

Will you prefer the crisp Blanco or the deep complexity of Extra Añejo? Or maybe the smoky taste of mezcal? This is a cultural and educational experience — not just a tequila bar stop!

  3. Visit Tulum Ruins or Swim in a Cenote Before the Tasting

Before your tequila tasting, choose between two amazing activities:

    • Explore the Tulum Ruins with your expert guide.
    • Swim and snorkel in a nearby cenote, a natural sinkhole with crystal-clear spring water.

Both options offer a unique way to experience the Yucatán’s rich culture and natural wonders.

Want to visit both the ruins and a cenote? That’s possible with a minimum of 4 participants.

  4. Traditional Lunch Before Your Tasting

After your adventure, enjoy a delicious Mexican lunch to fuel up before diving into your tequila tasting experience in the jungle.

  5. Why Choose Our Private Tequila Tour?

Our Tequila Tour blends culture, flavor, and nature in one exclusive experience. It’s perfect for groups of friends or families looking for a day trip that’s both educational and fun — all in a private setting.

So what are you waiting for? Book now and create unforgettable memories with our private Tequila Tasting Tour!

Our guide Arturo was particularly nice. He was able to describe and show us lots of great things in the cenote. The tequila tasting was particularly good. Very informative and we had a lot of fun. Thank you very much. We would love to go again. An absolute recommendation.

Arturo was very knowledgeable. The lunch that was provided after was delicious. Orders were taken before we left the ruins, so we didn't wait long to eat. The tequila tasting was so much fun.

Jacqueline · Apr 2024

Absolutely incredible tour. Our group of 24 was led by Arturo through Tulum’s Mayan ruins before we had lunch and tasted tequilas. Arturo was extremely knowledgeable about the history of the ruins and the peoples who lived there. Definitely would do another tour with him.

LT21 · Apr 2024

Great experience. We were shown round a cenote and got to snorkel in it. The tequila tasting was also brilliant and our guide Artolo was incredibly knowledgable. We got to taste some great tequilas. We cannot say enough how incredible Artolo was as our guide for the day. He made the trip even better.

Everyone enjoyed the snorkeling and the tequila tasting. The restaurant that the tour guide took us to had amazing drinks but the food could've been better. However, we went primarily for the snorkeling and tequila tasting (we stayed at an all inclusive so food wasn't that important to us). As a result, I would highly recommend this tour and business!

Tulum and Tequila tour
Before I discuss the tour, I have to say that the managers are very quick to respond to emails and all my questions. This made me feel more comfortable going with them.
My wife and I did the Tulum tour with tequila testing. Our driver (Omar) and tour guide (Arturo) were on time at our resort. They are cery friendly and offered waters before we started. The drive to Tulum was about 1 hour. Omar is a very safe driver.
We were literally the first ones to Tulum. This provided a great time to gets pics without other people in our photos. Avoided the heat as well. Arturo is very knowledgeable of the history. He took his time and did not rush us. He brought additional material to help explain the history of the mayan culture. Tulum is beautiful.
Afterwards we went to lunch at a remote restaurant in the Dos Ojos park. After lunch we did the Mezcal and Tequila tasting. We enjoyed hearing the differences and being able to sample Tequila which is hard to find.
We took naps in the way back as Omar drove. Overall a very pleasant day.

A FEW THINGS TO KNOW

Your tour questions, answered.

Tour basics

Is the tequila tour private or shared?

You’ll have a dedicated guide and vehicle all to yourselves—no crowds, no waiting, just a smooth and personalized experience.

Is the driver also the guide?

This is a private tour, just for you and your group.

No. The driver and guide are two different professionals.

All our tours include a dedicated driver and a separate certified guide.

While some companies offer a guide-driver, we believe this is not safe. Having a driver focused solely on the road and a guide fully dedicated to our guests ensures a safer and higher-quality experience.

How long does a private tequila tour take?

Please check the full itinerary in the “Itinerary” tab for more details.

The duration varies based on your chosen itinerary and pick up location:

  • Tulum ruins + tequila tasting: approximately 6 hours

What vehicles do you use for your tours?

We offer a range of modern, air-conditioned vans to suit the size of your group and ensure a safe and comfortable journey.

Visit our fleet page for more details.

Can I change the pick up time?

Yes, you’re welcome to choose your preferred pick-up time when booking.

That said, we recommend an early morning start to help you beat the crowds, skip the traffic, and enjoy cooler temperatures—it really makes a difference!

Activities & facilities

What is the minimum age to participate in the tequila tasting?

In accordance with Mexican law, participants must be at least 18 years old to take part in the tequila and mezcal tasting.

Kids can join the tour, we’ll provide them with refreshing alcohol-free cocktails.

How many samples are included in the tequila tasting tour?

Each adult guest will enjoy 6 samples of tequila and/or mezcal, ranging from blanco (white) to reposado, añejo, and extra añejo.

Can adults who don’t drink alcohol still join the tequila tour?

Absolutely! Non-drinking adults are welcome and can be booked under the "child (5–18 years old)" rate. Instead of alcohol, we’ll provide them with refreshing alcohol-free cocktails.

Where does the tequila tasting tour take place?

The tequila and mezcal tasting is held in a private area of a restaurant located in the jungle near Tulum, offering a peaceful and authentic setting for the experience.

Do we visit a tequila factory during the tour?

No, there are no tequila factories in this region. However, your guide will share plenty of insights about the history, production process, and cultural significance of tequila and mezcal during the tasting experience.

Can I purchase tequila or mezcal during the tour?

No, this tour is exclusively for tasting—there is no shop on-site.

However, your guide will be happy to recommend local places/website where you can purchase quality tequila or mezcal after the tour.

Planning & booking

Are vegetarian or special dietary meals available?

Yes, we’re happy to accommodate vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and other dietary needs or allergies.

After booking, you can let us know your needs by filling out the check-in form—just follow the link in your booking confirmation email.
