Our private guided tour, which is ideal for families, will take you to the northern shores of the Yucatán Peninsula to explore the area’s most popular attraction, the Rio Lagartos Nature Reserve. This area is full of diverse wildlife. Once we reach the beautiful lagoon, your professional guide will take you out for a private boat tour of the area. While you boat around the lagoon, you’ll be able to go birdwatching and see beautiful birds like pink flamingos, herons, pelicans, eagles, frigate birds, and geese. You may even see as few crocodiles if you are lucky!
Las Coloradas : Vibrant Pink Lagoon and Salt Factory!
After the boat ride, we will head to Las Coloradas, where seawater has been transformed into salt for decades. This region houses Mexico’s second-largest salt factory. Keep your camera handy to capture the stunning pink lagoon water, a sight that must be seen to be believed.
The lagoon’s pink hue varies due to sunlight and salt production processes, making each visit unique. However, swimming is strictly prohibited due to skin sensitivity.Satisfy Your Appetite!
After your Rio Lagartos adventure, when hunger calls, your guide will escort you to a nearby restaurant located in the quaint town of Rio Lagartos. Here, you can relish a lunch of fresh fish. If you prefer, you can also choose to have your lunch in the charming colonial city of Valladolid – the decision is entirely yours!

We had a really nice day at Las Coloradas with Claire. We took lots of pretty pictures. The lake was super pink, and we saw many pink flamingos during our boat ride. It was a fun and beautiful trip.

We got to see many flamingos in their natural habitat with a lots of different pinks! After the boat tour, we headed to Las coloradas, the pink lakes.The lunch we were served was very tasty and the portions were huge!

Wonderful day at Rio Lagartos with Claire and Ervin. We saw a lot of birds and the captain fed them with fishes so we got some fantastic photos. Then we went to Las Coloradas for great shots of the pink lakes. We finished with a delicious lunch, grilled meat with tortillas.

The drive was interesting as we passed trough some small villages and our tour guide was very knowledgable and respectful of the culture and the land. Our captain found a horse shoe crab and explained to us that it was one of the oldest living crustations, he pointed out many bird species and some crocodile.
