Las Coloradas Pink Lakes & Rio Lagartos Private Tour
If you love nature and are interested in viewing unique Mexican wildlife, then your group won’t want to miss the chance to go on our all-inclusive Las Coloradas pink lakes – Rio Lagartos Tour. This small fishing village’s name is translated as “Alligator River”, although its famous lagoon is actually home to a lot of diverse wild life.
Private Boat Wildlife Viewing!
Our private guided tour, which is ideal for families, will take you to the northern shores of the Yucatán Peninsula to explore the area’s most popular attraction, the Rio Lagartos Nature Reserve. This area is full of diverse wildlife. Once we reach the beautiful lagoon, your professional guide will take you out for a private boat tour of the area. While you boat around the lagoon, you’ll be able to go birdwatching and see beautiful birds like pink flamingos, herons, pelicans, eagles, frigate birds, and geese. You may even see as few crocodiles if you are lucky!
Las Coloradas : Vibrant Pink Lagoon and Salt Factory!
After the boat ride, we will head to Las Coloradas, where seawater has been transformed into salt for decades. This region houses Mexico’s second-largest salt factory. Keep your camera handy to capture the stunning pink lagoon water, a sight that must be seen to be believed.
The lagoon’s pink hue varies due to sunlight and salt production processes, making each visit unique. However, swimming is strictly prohibited due to skin sensitivity.
Satisfy Your Appetite!
After your Rio Lagartos adventure, when hunger calls, your guide will escort you to a nearby restaurant located in the quaint town of Rio Lagartos. Here, you can relish a lunch of fresh fish. Alternatively, you have the option to visit a delightful small village where you can savor traditional meat or smoked meat delicacies. If you prefer, you can also choose to have your lunch in the charming colonial city of Valladolid – the decision is entirely yours!
Let’s go on an Absolute Adventure, choose our Las Coloradas Rio Lagartos Tour!

The drive was interesting as we passed trough some small villages and our tour guide was very knowledgable and respectful of the culture and the land. Our captain found a horse shoe crab and explained to us that it was one of the oldest living crustations, he pointed out many bird species and some crocodile.

We saw not only flamingos but numerous species of birds fish and crocodiles. Chino was our guide, he was very knowledgeable of the local flora and fauna. We learnt a lot about this beautiful place.

Our guide and driver Juan Jose and Ervin, arrived on time to pick us up and they were very knowledgeable and friendly. They made the trip exciting, fun and stress free looking after us as we Rio Lagartos and Las Coloradas. Cold drinks (and beer) plus snacks helped the travel go that much quicker, when driving the long distances. Can’t beat the professional service, and great not to be in a large group, a tour just for the 2 of us, making it a much more personal experience.

Both company and guides are great. Our guide, Juan Jose, was the best I have ever had. He was knowledgeable and fun. This day exceeded our expectations, thank you!

Arturo was amazing. Him and our driver (I apologize for not recalling his name at this time) were fantastic. We went to a small town to see this beautiful pink lagoon. It was glorious. A beautiful boat ride and even more awesome food that we ended up with for lunch. It was absolutely gorgeous for bird watchers and unique oddity seekers alike.
