Coba ruins and Punta Laguna Monkey Reserve Private Tour

So much to do and so little time. We understand that sometimes you just don’t want to only take in one activity a day. When we realized that, we arrived at the Coba and Punta Laguna Tour. This private tour encompasses (5) different exciting activities at Punta Laguna and the visit of the Mayan ruins of Coba!

We start the day early to beat the heat, the crowds and to increase our chances to encounter the Monkeys. We’ll transport you directly to Punta Laguna. Once we arrive, you’ll have the Mayan world at your fingertips. Some of the activities in our Punta Laguna tour include:

  1. Hiking in the jungle to look for spider monkeys and howler monkeys. We can’t guarantee sightings…this is not a zoo but we usually get to see them as we come early.
  2. Casual canoeing in the lagoon. It basically counts as exercise!
  3. Adrenaline rushing, blood pumping zip lining over the lagoon.
  4. Rappelling into the cenote. Completely optional. We do have to stress that is a little more difficult and our patrons must be in good shape to partake.
  5. Mayan Purification Ceremony. Experience the culture!

Then, we’ll take you to a local Mexican a la carte meal, tacos, fajitas, panuchos… you decide!

After lunch, a private archaeological guide will take you to explore the Coba ruins on foot and then by bike. You can also climb one of the pyramids! It is a once in a lifetime experience that we don’t want you to miss.

Fun Facts about the Punta Laguna tour: The Mayan ceremony is indicative of safe entry into the jungle and the cenote. The cenote is a sacred for traditional Mayans as it is the entrance to the underworld Xibalbla “the place of fear”. Punta Laguna is still actually home to approximately 30 Mayan families. The families welcome tourists and absolutely love sharing their culture with those on vacation during this special time!

You will be transported back to your hotel by 4/5PM so we don’t interrupt any plans you may have for the evening!

WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE! We are third time repeat customers!
We are third time repeat customers and tours with Absolute Adventure Mexico are so delightful. Thank you, Juanjo (again! as you were the tour guide for our prior trips) for making our most tour of Punta Laguna (got to see monkeys!) and Coba so personal, individualized, engaging, and educational. Booking is very easy online, communication via e-mail was so easy, and the pickup for start of the tour was so smooth. The vehicle was comfortable and the drive was comfortable (thank you, Omar!) Honestly, every single time we come to the Playa del Carmen area and plan to do a tour (even if a repeat tour as we plan to bring family to the area in the future), we will continue to always come to Absolute Adventure Mexico!

  3. Kerry

We did the Coba and Monkeys tour with Absolute Adventures. JJ, our guide, was friendly and knowledgeable and provided us with lots of information about what we were seeing. Would highly recommend Absolute Adventures.

  4. Juan

We did the coba + punta lagoona private tour. The price is Tottaly worth what there asking. From the spider monkeys to the ziplineing then a kayak ride across the lagoon to the cenote which is a really beautiful special place. After that we went to coba
we rode bike’s and stopped at each ruin and he exsplained all the history. Lunch was really amazing too! Our guide Juan and our diver was carlos both were awesome.Juan was really knowledgeable and passionate about the mayan culture. Thanks guys for the unforgettable day that I will always remember!

  5. Wanda

We took a private tour with Juan to the monkey reserve, canoeing, ziplining, lunch, and cycling the Coba ruins. We thoroughly enjoyed the day
and we did observe both howling monkeys and spider monkeys. It was a bit expensive but we did love having the private experience and personal guide. Juan was great.

    Excellent lunch with plenty eat…
    All had a great time…age range from 22 to 80 years old…
Would not hesitate to book with this company again….

  7. Kezchiz4444

We wanted mainly to see monkeys in their natural habitat and the guide (Jose) worked hard to get that for us. And we did! Howler monkeys!
This tour is full of experiences: the “family challenge” which is getting from one side of the lake to the other in a row boat, zip wire through the jungles, and an amazing deep (ish) Cenote all in the Mayan jungle (so cool and fragrant too) followed by an amazing local lunch and then a visit to Coba. Take the tricycle drive round, it’s lots of fun!
Our driver Carlos and (very dry) guide Chris made our trip safe, fun and informative.
    Wonderful and unforgettable. Many thanks.

Had an amazing time with JJ (Juan) and Rodrigo!! Our family of 8 (2 kids, 13 and 11 years old) did the Tulum/Cenote snorkel/Turtles at Akumal and the Coba/Punta Laguna tours. We would highly recommend Absolute Adventure Mexico, the tours and traveling with JJ and Rodrigo.

Brilliant private tour to Punta Laguna and Coba Maya with Manuel and driver Rodrigo! Manuel was an absolute delight, very knowledgeable and a fabulous day was had by all. Rodrigo was a steady hand on the wheel! Thanks to all!

  10. Tyler

The wife and I booked a private tour to the Punta Laguna monkey reserve and Coba Ruins with Abslote Adventures, and couldn’t have been happier with our Guide, or our experience.
Our guide, Juan, was fantastic and we really enjoyed the personal touch of a private tour, and would not hesitate to hire Absolute again in the future, and of course request Juan again.
Private tours are slightly more costly than group tours, but their is no comparison when it comes to the better over all value!
    Thanks guys, for the memories!

  11. Kadala

That was the best tour I have ever taken on any trip! In one long day we observed lots of active spider monkeys at play in the wild, experienced the most scenic zip line in Mexico, got to see what a cenote is like (and test our strength climbing the rope ladder out), enjoyed a canoe race, saw a present day Mayan village (and helped support them with our shopping), saw interesting birds, and hiked a through some good habitat! Then we ate an excellent lunch and biked around Coba, climbing Ixmoja, one of the few pyramids visitors are still allowed to climb and one of the tallest on the Yucatan peninsula. Biking around the site was awesome on our rattletrap bikes and helped us with the heat which was intense that afternoon. I’m glad I climbed the pyramid although that was the toughest activity on the trip. Punta Laguna in the morning was very special as we were the only visitors and the nature and activities were wonderful! The eight of us from 10yr old to 70yr old all equally enjoyed the tour.

  12. Jill

Thanks to Chris, Pascal and Pixie for a great private tour to Coba, Punta Laguna Monkey Reserve and yummy lunch!

  13. Pamela

We spent a day with Juan at Coba and Punta Laguna Monkey Sanctuary. It was such a nice day, everything was well organized, schedule was flexible so we could take time to take pictures and enjoy these wonderful places. I recommend Juan and Absolute Adventure to anyone!

  14. Vikie

Ease of booking online, prompt replies and extremely informative, we were picked up from our hotel, and enjoyed our private trip with these guys, Coba and Punta Laguna where we were lucky enough to see Spider Monkeys and Howler Monkeys we zip lined over the lake, and the brave among us were lowered by rope into a cenote for a gentle swim, before the strenuous climb up a rope ladder!

  15. Abby

Monkey reserve was absolutely amazing!!! If you like animals this is a MUST DO – you will not want to leave. Being so close to them was magical.

  16. Tracy

Top notch private tour. Coba was still empty when we arrived. We were about to climb the temple and enjoy the view before crowds. We had so much fun in Punta Laguna looking for monkeys, zip lining and exploring a spooky cenote! Arturo took incredible pictures of our tour and they were emailed to us few days later!

  17. Deanna

Chris was fantastic, providing custom trip Coba and Punta Laguna to view monkeys in the wild, zipline and canoe. he was great with the kids and I highly recommend this tour

  18. Louise

Both guide and driver were personable. They took care of everything. We didn’t have to wait on any line, they had everything we needed. I highly recommend Absolute Adventure to anyone looking for a great private tour!
