Diving in Cenote Dos Ojos
Cenote Dos Ojos or “Two Eyes” earned its moniker because it is comprised of two large round cenotes filled with crystal-clear, azul water. These two “eyes” or cenotes are located deep within the jungle and are situated atop a complex cave system that is just waiting to be explored. One of the longest and largest cave systems in the Yucatan, adventure awaits around every twist and turn of this dive.
The cenote Dos Ojos is quite large and there is more than enough room to navigate around the large and impressive columns and stalactites. There is also plenty of natural daylight so that you will be able to see everything that surrounds you. We will constantly remind you during the dive to look upward to make sure you don’t miss any of the amazing sights along the way. Further into the dive we will enter the Bat Cave which is darker and a more challenging area of the cenote. Ascending up through the water into the Bat Cave will bring you within close proximity to the multitude of bats that hang between the stalactites covering the ceiling and that call this place their home. While in the Bat Cave we’ll also encourage you to take a look around and admire the exquisitely intricate formations that surround you.
Cenote Dos Ojos is one of the most popular and well-known of the cenotes along the Riviera Maya and once you experience it you’ll see why it was chosen to be featured in the IMAX feature movie “Journey Into Amazing Caves Cenote.
